We’re incredibly proud to share that AI Industries has been recognized with two awards at the BC Region Awards of Excellence in Steel Construction 2026, presented by Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC).

🏆 The Eight: Engineering Award

🏆 UBC Recreation Centre North: Architectural Award

These projects challenged our team in different ways, from architecturally exposed structural steel and complex seismic detailing at The Eight, to the long-span structural systems and open recreational spaces at UBC Rec Centre North. Seeing that work recognized by a jury of industry leaders, architects, engineers, and construction professionals is truly meaningful. 💯

A sincere thank you to CISC BC Region for recognizing these outstanding projects and for hosting a great evening celebrating innovation and excellence in steel construction across our industry. We’re also grateful to the incredible teams, consultants, general contractors, engineers, architects, erectors, and trades who collaborated throughout these projects. 👏

Over the past year, our team in Surrey has fabricated steel for some of the most complex projects in BC, including the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project in northern BC, with over 4.28 million pounds of steel delivered to one of the most remote sites we've ever worked on.

None of it happens without the 100+ people on our shop floor who show up every day and hold the standard. 💯

Here's to everything coming ahead 🥂

Some projects leave a lasting mark, and 2+U is definitely one of them 🏢

Completed in 2019 in downtown Seattle, this project redefined what urban office space could look like by blending engineering excellence, sustainability, and community impact into one iconic structure. Designed around the vision of creating a true “Urban Village,” 2+U features 24,000 sq. ft. of open public space beneath a 38-story office tower standing over 500 feet tall. To make that vision possible, the tower itself was lifted 85 feet above ground using massive structural lift columns- all within a major seismic zone.

With a total weight of 5,500 tons of steel supplied by us, every stage of this project demanded precision, innovation, and collaboration. At peak construction, nearly 250 tons of fabricated structural steel were delivered and installed weekly to keep the schedule moving at an incredible pace 🏗

Beyond the engineering achievement, 2+U also set a high standard for sustainability and wellness:
• LEED Platinum Certified
• WELL Health-Safety Rated
• 42% reduction in indoor water use
• Energy-efficient systems exceeding Seattle energy code requirements

Also, 2+U was the winner of the CISC Awards of Excellence in Steel Construction (BC Region) for the Innovation & Sustainability Award in 2023 🏆

Projects like this leave a lasting impact on the communities around them. Proud to have been part of a project that continues to stand out years later 💯

Do you ever wonder why steel is used?
Because every strong structure starts with the right foundation. Steel continues to be the material of choice in modern construction and for good reasons: Strength, Sustainability, Efficiency, Versatility, Fire Resistance, and Longevity 🏢

At AI Industries, we don’t just work with steel, we use it to deliver precision, reliability, and lasting impact in every project. With over 40 years of industry experience, we fabricate around 12,000 tons of steel annually 💯

Pacific Middle School Update

All 8 zones have been successfully delivered to site, with Zones 1–4 and 8 now installed and decked. Two of five stair systems have been shipped, and fabrication is currently underway for the next set. With most of the structural steel now in place, the project is moving efficiently toward the next phase.
Proud to contribute to building spaces that support future generations 💯

Nearly there!
Construction at Rainier Beach High School is now almost complete, marking the final stages of a major replacement project for the Seattle Public Schools district. The new four-story campus is designed to accommodate 1,600 students and includes modern academic spaces along with a regional Skills Center.

We have completed Phase 3, with the Performing Arts Center and athletic fields planned as the next stage of the project.
Phase 4 in progress- Performing Arts Center

As planning continues, the RBHS team is now finalizing the schematic design for the next phase of this school and welcomes community input on green building strategies.
