Mitrex eFacade LITE with FlexFit has officially been announced!

The new field-adjustable module solution is designed to address one of the longstanding challenges in BIPV installation: fixed module sizing.

With FlexFit, non-active modules can be adapted on-site to accommodate real-world facade conditions without requiring re-fabrication, helping simplify installation while maintaining facade continuity and architectural consistency.

Tools down. Lunch up.

Yesterday, Mitrex hosted a lunch for the dedicated trades, installation teams, and EllisDon crews working on the Myron & Berna Garron Health Sciences Complex (SAMIH) at the University of Toronto Scarborough.
With hotdogs, drinks, and ice cream for the crew, it was a small way to recognize the hard work, coordination, and craftsmanship going into bringing one of North America’s largest institutional BIPV projects to life.

A huge thank you to everyone on site helping turn this vision into reality.

Progress continues at the Myron & Berna Garron Health Sciences Complex (SAMIH) at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

Mitrex has now completed approximately 70% of the solar facade installation, with three installation teams working simultaneously across multiple elevations of the building.

As one of the largest institutional BIPV projects in North America, SAMIH continues to demonstrate how solar facades can be integrated at scale while supporting both architectural and energy performance goals.

No structural build-out framing, all factory pre-assembled panels.

Mitrex and Cladify are featured in the latest issue of Architectural Record highlighting how we provide no Structural build-out framing, all factory pre-assembled panels as shown at the Western University Entrepreneurship & Innovation Centre and its use of aluminum honeycomb-backed cladding.

The project demonstrates how advanced facade systems can support ambitious architectural design while contributing to long-term sustainability goals, an approach central to both Mitrex and Cladify.

Design intent. Technical integration. Real-world ex*****on.

From early-stage concepts to completed buildings, Mitrex works closely with architects, developers, engineers, and contractors to help integrate solar directly into the building envelope.

Projects like the SunRise retrofit, the Myron & Berna Garron Health Sciences Complex (SAMIH), and the 1 Hamilton project demonstrate how BIPV can support ambitious architectural visions while delivering on-site energy generation.

Mitrex Sales Direct Cory Fry is attending Decarb Summits NYC on May 13–14.

As building performance standards continue to evolve, the conversation around Building-Integrated Photovoltaics is becoming increasingly important, not just for energy generation, but for the future of the building envelope itself.

We look forward to joining industry leaders, architects, developers, and sustainability professionals shaping the next generation of decarbonized buildings.

Retrofitting, redefined.

In this clip from The Clean Energy Edge Podcast, the conversation explores how BIPV can be applied to existing buildings, transforming traditional facade upgrades into energy-generating systems.

As more buildings look to improve performance, retrofit applications are becoming one of the most practical paths for integrating solar into the built environment.

Retrofitting isn’t just about adding systems, it’s about upgrading performance.

Installing solar facades on existing buildings requires careful evaluation of the structure, facade condition, and integration approach. This checklist outlines key considerations, including: Assessing existing building envelope conditions, understanding structural and mounting requirements, planning for electrical integration, coordinating facade replacement with system design.

A practical guide for teams exploring how BIPV can be applied to retrofit projects.
