Cambria is currently building an access road to Red Mountain Gold Project; we are currently studying the economics of an aerial tramline that would carry ore from the deposit in the alpine to the valley floor where it will be trucked to our Premier mill, with workers and materials transported up.

Tramlines were used extensively in the mountains of the Cordillera 100 years ago, with some global operators such Torex and Freeport-McMoran using these systems today.

Aerial tramlines have been an important part of Stewart’s mining history. The historic Premier tramline covered roughly 16 km, carrying ore from the historic Premier Mine to ships in the Portland Canal. Before it was built, ore came out by horse-drawn sleigh. The tram used about 250 buckets, each carrying around 360 kg of ore, reliably transporting ore over mountain terrain. Modern tramline systems work on the same principle, and they are one of the options for moving ore safely and efficiently from the Red Mountain Gold Deposit, located in the alpine terrain, to the valley floor.

Cambria Gold Mines' construction superintendent, Kirk Mackey, comes from 'the rock' to supervise blasting rock and road construction to access our high-grade Red Mountain gold deposit. With up to six blasts per day, his crew has moved a lot of rock.
