Where will electric trucks charge on long hauls? A Nov 10 webinar digs in. Electric Autonomy and PACT are hosting a session on electrified freight corridors, including the BC-to-Baja California (BC2BC) ZEV corridor, which would start with about 20 charging stations of at least 2.5 MW along I-5, and Quebec's Quebec City-Toronto blueprint.

Panelists come from Greenlane, Hydro-Quebec and PACT. Nov 10, 11 a.m. B.C. time, virtual.

Utilities are getting organized on vehicle-grid integration. Dunsky has launched the Canadian Vehicle-Grid Integration Alliance, funded by BC Hydro, Manitoba Hydro, Alectra and the Government of Nova Scotia.

The goal: align standards, investment and deployment so managed charging and V2G can scale past small pilots. A VGI Knowledge Centre is the first deliverable, due later this fall.

For fleets, managed charging is the lever for depot demand charges and grid upgrade costs.

The biggest electric Class 8 order in US history just landed.

ZET SCALE (with Microsoft and PepsiCo as founding shippers) ordered 2,500 battery-electric trucks, mostly Tesla Semi, across 10 freight hubs including Seattle/Tacoma. It would nearly double US electric Class 8 trucks on the road.

Tesla is the primary OEM for ZET SCALE, a shipper alliance backed by Microsoft and PepsiCo ordering 2,500 electric trucks, the largest US order yet.

Battery-electric trucks are now doing real work at the Port of Vancouver.

Global Container Terminals has put Peterbilt 220EV (l**e service, up to 282 kWh) and 520EV (fuel tanker, 400 kWh) trucks into service at Vanterm and Deltaport. Peterbilt calls it the largest fleet rollout of any terminal in Canada, and GCT took home BC Hydro's Luminaries Project of the Year award.

Meanwhile the ELECTRA pilot has Peterbilt 579EV Class 8 trucks on port container routes. Predictable duty cycles + depot charging = a strong early case for vocational EVs.

Canada's electric bus market nearly doubled in 2025.
Battery-electric bus sales jumped 188%, but zero-emission MHDVs are still only ~1% of 47,676 registrations. Buses led with 392 of 471 ZE units (9.7% share).

Trucks are where the room to grow is.

Sales of ZE-MHDVs, however, only made up 1 per cent of overall fleet, according to the International Council on Clean Transportation

Whistler is going electric again — this time with battery buses. 🚌⚡ BC Transit's first of 15 battery-electric buses has arrived, with 4 due by end of October and 11 more in spring 2027. They'll make up about half of Whistler's fleet, as part of a ~$424M, 125-vehicle program across eight BC systems (buses + charging + facilities).

https://pst.cr/xYQo7

A new fleet of battery-electric buses will begin to operate on BC Transit's system in Whistler before the end of 2026.
