We’ve been named finalists in the Western Living Design 25 awards!

A kitchen built by our Alair Vancouver team with Husk Interior Design is a finalist for the 2027 WL Design 25. It’s part of a green renovation of a half duplex, and designer Sharon Hollingsworth detailed it so it feels less like a kitchen.

Congratulations to Sharon and the Husk team, and thank you to every trade partner who helped bring this space to life.

People’s Choice voting is open until Nov. 20. Link in bio if you’d like to cast a vote.

Alair Homes Maple Ridge is Featured in Canadian Contractor
🔗 to full article above ⬆️ .

We’re proud to see the Maple Ridge Fun Zone featured in the Fall 2026 issue of Canadian Contractor, in the magazine’s Making Spaces section, beginning on page 14.

The project is a new addition on an existing Vancouver home, designed and built by Alair Homes Maple Ridge. Downstairs, a games room with a kitchenette bar gives the family room for pool, cards, and gathering. Upstairs, a library mezzanine adds a quieter space, with built-in shelving, a rolling ladder that reaches every shelf, and skylights overhead. The details carry the feature: a coffered ceiling over the bar, engineered hardwood underfoot, and railings laminated on site to match the curve of the framing, work fewer and fewer builders still do.

The feature also includes a golf simulator room from a second project, one the magazine liked too much to leave out. For that installation, the team handled the rough-in, power, subfloor preparation, and soundproofing, while their golf simulator partners delivered the turnkey system.

Being featured in Canadian Contractor is a meaningful opportunity to share this work with the builders and homeowners who appreciate it most. We’re grateful to the homeowners and trade partners who helped bring the project to life.

Explore the feature in the Fall 2026 issue of Canadian Contractor.

We spent Wednesday night at Harvest & Chill, and it was a good one. A room full of market partners, plates of great food, drinks in hand, and lots of catching up. Between conversations, we got a look at Liebherr’s refrigeration technology and how it keeps food fresher for longer, which felt right on theme for a harvest dinner.

Presented by Alair Homes, Midland Appliance, Euro-Line Appliances Inc., and Cambria Natural Quartz Surfaces. The food was catered by Luxury Grazing & Event Catering | Greater Vancouver and it was amazing. New people met, old friends caught up with, and nobody was in a hurry to leave.

Thanks to everyone who came out. Good food, good people, and a reason to gather. We will take that any night of the week.

What does it mean when a home is built to the Passive House standard?

It means your home is designed to use very little energy to stay comfortable in every season. The building envelope does the heavy lifting: airtight construction, serious insulation, sealed right. That keeps temperatures even from room to room, filters the air you breathe, and manages moisture so the house lasts longer with less maintenance.

It also means thinking ahead. BC building code requirements keep tightening, and building to a higher standard now saves you a costly retrofit later.

Our Burnaby team includes a Certified Passive House Consultant, so if you are curious about building high-performance in Burnaby or anywhere in the Lower Mainland, start the conversation with us. We will walk you through what matters and what it takes.

Some of our team spent Wednesday evening at Appliance Canada’s VIP designer event in Richmond with Signature Kitchen Suite: great food, good conversation, and a firsthand look at SKS appliances in action. Sous vide demonstrations and Gourmet AI technology, all built around precision cooking and the way people actually cook.

Evenings like this are a good reminder of why we love this work: continually learning what is new, and coming home full of ideas for your kitchen.

Thank you to Appliance Canada and Signature Kitchen Suite for having us.

Character homes ask a different question.

Not what would you replace. What would you keep.

In this Vancouver renovation, the leaded glass stayed. The wood doors stayed. The inlaid floors and the tile fireplaces stayed. The kitchen and bathroom moved forward, with new cabinetry, new tile, and new fixtures that suit the rooms around them.

That is the work in a character home: you update what has to work harder, and you leave the details that make the house what it is alone.

Thinking about a character home renovation in Vancouver? Start the conversation with us.

October is Project Manager Month, and we're taking a little extra time to recognize the people at the center of how we build here in the 604.

Our project managers are the backbone of how we build at Alair, leading communication, keeping each project organized, and creating clarity for our homeowners and teams from start to finish. We couldn't do what we do without them.

This month, we'll share more about the team members who lead our projects every day and the role they play in each one.

A big congratulations to our team at Alair Chilliwack (Chris + Joyce Klaassen) for being featured in the The Globe and Mail.

The article takes a look at this custom dogtrot home on Chilliwack Mountain: two structures under one green roof, connected by a covered breezeway, with views across the Fraser Valley.

The homeowners chose 2,100 square feet and put their budget into the details, from copper wall panels to curbless showers built for aging in place. Built by Chris + Joyce Klaassen, it’s one of the most unique homes our Chilliwack team has ever taken on.

This week, we set out to recognize and thank our trade partners because every build depends on the electricians, framers, plumbers, painters, excavators who show up early and bring years of experience to get details right.

Every Alair home is the result of dozens of skilled professionals collaborating, each bringing specialized knowledge, experience, and care to every project.

We also had a ton of fun getting out to sites and chatting with the people who are doing the work.

At Alair, we believe that true legacy is built by hand. Thank you to every trade partner who’s worked with us this year to help bring our homes to life.
