Aura asked HR professionals what they’re focused on for 2026–2027.

The answers say a lot about where work is heading.

Talent is still top of mind. AI is no longer just a technology conversation. And growth is being planned with more caution, flexibility, and intention.

What stood out is how connected these priorities are. Attracting and retaining people, preparing teams for change, and planning for the future all point back to one bigger question:

How can the workplace better support people, culture, performance, and what comes next?

Some teams need a space to think together, not just meet together.

Project work does not always happen in one type of room. Sometimes it needs a table for planning. Sometimes it needs a quiet corner for a focused conversation. Sometimes it needs writable surfaces, pin-up space, or technology that brings the right people into the discussion.

That is why collaboration hubs should be designed around how teams actually work.

From brainstorming and decision-making to reviews, check-ins, and active project planning, the right setting can help teams move ideas forward with more clarity and momentum.

Great conversations at Aura’s Law Breakfast this morning.

We brought together legal leaders for a discussion moderated by Robin Rosebrugh on how law firms are evolving their workplaces, from hybrid models and office design to talent attraction, mentorship, and AI adoption.

Thank you to Daniel Kiselbach of Lisa Niro of and Ryan Chalmers of for sharing their insights and experiences on the modern legal workplace.

We also heard from Fiona Chatterji, who shared emerging interior design trends across law firms and how workplace design continues to evolve to support people, culture, and performance.

A key takeaway: the workplace remains a powerful tool for attracting talent, fostering collaboration, and strengthening firm culture.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.

New Project Highlight:

Aura partnered with to deliver the new Foundry Tri-Cities location.

Created to support youth and families, this project brings together integrated health, wellness, and community services.

What makes this project stand out is how deeply the space was shaped by the people it serves. Foundry Tri-Cities was co-designed with youth, with their input helping guide the materials, colours, and finishes to create an environment that feels authentic, inclusive, and welcoming.

Guided by the Concept of Awe, the design draws from quiet moments in nature to create a space that feels calm, reflective, and far from clinical. Natural light, layered textures, and intuitive layouts help support both comfort and connection.

From private talking rooms and medical exam spaces to peer support, family support, a sensory room, and flexible community programming areas, every part of the centre was designed to respond to real needs with care and intention.

A meaningful project and a strong example of what can happen when design is shaped by empathy, collaboration, and community.

Two companies can both be hybrid and still build very different cultures.

Early patterns from the Rethinking Work: Canadian Workplace Survey suggest that different hybrid models create different rhythms for connection.

➡️ Flexible Hybrid Leans Monthly
When presence is fluid and employee-driven, organizations appear to compensate by increasing the frequency and intentionality of monthly touchpoints to bring people together.

➡️ Structured Hybrid Moves Quarterly
With fixed in-office days, in-person moments happen by design. This creates more predictable, quarterly rhythms for connection and alignment instead of frequent gatherings.

& are continuing to gather perspectives from organizations across Canada to help build a stronger national benchmark.

When organizations are planning the future of their workplace, clarity matters.

These client testimonials reflect the role workplace strategy can play in helping teams understand how much space they need, how people want to use it, and the kind of workplace experience they want to create.

Most office projects move too fast into design.

Leadership starts talking about square footage, furniture, and finishes before answering the bigger questions:

➡️ What is this workplace actually meant to do?
➡️ How do teams work best?
➡️ What is helping performance, and what is creating friction?

That is where workplace strategy matters.

At Aura, we help organizations make the right workplace decisions before design begins. We work with leadership to understand business goals, team dynamics, and future direction, then turn those insights into a clear plan for space, experience, and performance.

Because a better office does not start with trends, it starts with clarity.

When strategy leads the process, you are more likely to create a workplace that:

✅ supports how your team actually works
✅ improves collaboration without sacrificing focus
✅ aligns space decisions with business priorities
✅ avoids costly guesswork later in design and construction

If your team is facing growth, hybrid challenges, underused space, or a workplace that no longer fits the business, workplace strategy helps you move forward with more confidence.

Last week, Aura took on our first-ever Amazing Race team day and it did not disappoint.

From one stop to the next, our teams took on challenges, raced across different locations, and brought plenty of competitive energy along the way. Safe to say there was a lot of running, a lot of laughs, and a lot of team spirit.

Thank you to everyone for bringing such a great attitude and making it such a fun day from start to finish.

New project highlight:

When organizations support people through vulnerable moments, the workplace needs to do more than function well. It needs to feel safe, welcoming, and supportive from the moment someone walks in.

That was the thinking behind Aura’s design-build project for SHARE Family & Community Services.

SHARE needed a workplace that could support staff, protect privacy, and create a better experience for the individuals and families it serves across the Tri-Cities. Inspired by the idea of shelter and belonging, the design brings together warm materials, flexible spaces, and thoughtful details that support both daily operations and human connection.

From the reception area to the meeting rooms, multipurpose spaces, and staff areas, every part of the workplace was designed to feel intentional, welcoming, and aligned with SHARE’s mission.

The result is a purpose-driven workplace that supports the people behind the work.
