🔬 Nacht der Technik at TH Köln – what an incredible evening!
We're still buzzing from the amazing reception at our booth last Friday! We had the pleasure of meeting so many curious students, families, future talents, and tech enthusiasts throughout the night.
It was fantastic to see such genuine interest in our skin testing devices. As the evening went on and the lights were illuminated, the atmosphere turned wonderfully cozy, making the conversations feel even more personal.
A special thank you to Skinmade for providing the fantastic giveaways—they were a great addition and much appreciated by our visitors! 🎁

🎉 40 Years of Courage + Khazaka – and we’re prouder than ever!
Since our foundation in Cologne in 1986, we have revolutionised the world of skin research: as the developers of the world’s first devices for objective skin measurement, and still are the global market leader in skin analysis technology. 🌍
What began as a two-man vision in Cologne is now in use in over 70 countries—in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, in dermatology and at universities, but also in places you’d hardly expect: 🚀 on the ISS, 🧊 in Antarctica, and 🏔️ at an altitude of 4,800 m in La Paz.
With over 50 employees from 18 countries, our C+K Technology Center, and several thousand scientific publications, we set the gold standard—“Made in Germany,” recognized worldwide.
🥂 This year, we’re celebrating our company anniversary—40 years of passion for measurable skin research! A milestone we’re incredibly proud of as a family-owned business.

𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝘆𝗼𝗻!

For nearly five decades, the 𝗜𝗦𝗕𝗦 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 – 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 has been bringing together the global skin biophysics community. C+K has proudly been part of this journey for more than 30 years, and we are looking forward to another inspiring meeting, this time in Lyon, with exciting scientific presentations and discussions on the latest advances in skin research.

🌸 Hay fever season is in full swing — and for millions of adolescents, it's more than just a seasonal nuisance.

A new study from the PASTURE cohort (Pechlivanis et al., Monatsschrift Kinderheilkunde, 2025) found that measuring Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) — a simple, non-invasive marker of skin barrier function — in 16-year-olds may help identify adolescents at higher risk for allergic sensitization and allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (hay fever).

Key findings:
• Higher TEWL was significantly associated with perennial allergic sensitization (year-round, e.g. dust mites, pet dander)
• TEWL was also linked to allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (ARC)
• Interestingly, no association was found with asthma or atopic dermatitis in this group

The authors suggest that a compromised skin barrier may play a role in the pathway from sensitization to ARC — and that routine TEWL measurement could become a valuable screening tool in pediatric and allergology practice.

The PASTURE project has been tracking children across five European countries since birth to understand the environmental and genetic factors behind atopic diseases. This latest analysis adds an important piece to that puzzle.
