What makes a peacock shimmer?
Spoiler: it is not the colour itself.

The fascinating blue and green tones are created by tiny feather structures that reflect light in a way that creates iridescence. Depending on the angle, the colour appears to change.
Hot stamping can create a similar kind of visual fascination.

While the transfer foil shade itself stays the same, the way a design is perceived can change with the viewing angle. MicroEmbossing, NanoEmbossing and textures influence how light is reflected — and how a design is perceived. That is why the final effect is strongly shaped by the structure created by the stamping die.

Sometimes, the reason behind an effect is not what you see at first glance.
At H+M, we develop precision stamping dies for results you can see, feel and remember.

Goodbye lengthy setup process
Hello increased productivity

If you work with hot stamping machines, you know the challenge: mounting and precisely positioning several stamping dies on the chase can take valuable time before production even starts.

The H+M EasyFix plate significantly reduces setup time, allowing you to focus on what matters: production. How? We mount and pre-position all stamping dies on a single plate, which means no more time-consuming adjustments for each individual job.

Contact us to see how you can experience up to 50% reduction in setup time during initial setup, and be ready to go within just 20 minutes for recurring jobs.

From idea to experience

A creative idea is a little like a piece of music.
At first, it may exist only as a mood, a sketch, a rhythm. But before anyone can experience it, it needs to be translated into something that can be performed.

In stamping die production, this translation is our daily work at H+M.

A design becomes lines, depths, angles, textures and surfaces. Every detail needs to be interpreted in a way that not only reflects the creative intention, but also works reliably in production.
Because the stamping die is more than a tool.

It is part of the performance.
It defines how foil catches the light.
How relief creates depth.
How fine structures become visible.
How a flat design turns into something to be seen and remembered.

And just like in music, the best result comes when creativity and experience play together.

At H+M, this is what we focus on: turning your creative ideas into precise stamping dies. With the technical understanding needed to make beauty perform reliably in production.

Your idea deserves protection.

Especially when the design is challenging.
When the timeline is tight.
When details need to be precise, repeatable and production-ready.

Inspired by the KURZ Design Team’s trend concept Shades of Armour, explores resilience as something protective, balanced and strong.

For us at H+M, resilience is not only what the finished surface expresses. It is also what a project needs on its way there: stability, experience and precision under pressure.

That is what our “armour” means for customers.

We help protect the detail with high-precision stamping tools.
We help protect the process with technical understanding of design, transfer foil, substrate and press.
And we help protect the result by staying solution-oriented when projects become demanding.

Because sometimes, the strongest protection is what happens behind the surface.

H+M in a galaxy of embellishment

Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away, a designer sits in front of a screen and asks the most important question in the universe: “But how will it look with hotstamping?”

The spaceship is ready.
The artwork is uploaded.
The Jedi are calm.
The Stormtroopers are… well, probably still struggling with register.

And then the DREAMCOMPOSER® by Leonhard KURZ appeares.

Suddenly, the design travels through the galaxy in 3D.
Foil effects can be explored from every angle.
Textures catch the light like tiny lightsabers.
Patterns appear with the power of The Force.

Even better: somewhere between Planet Packaging and the Rebel Alliance of Surface Design, you can also find a little H+M universe inside the tool. With parts of our catalogue of patterns and textures ready to explore.

So, while The Empire may prefer flat, boring surfaces, we are clearly on the side of depth, detail and decoration. The Dark Side just has no chance when designers can visualize effects this easily.

And if an Ewok, a Wookiee or a brand owner asks, “What would this look like in real life?” DREAMCOMPOSER® gives a pretty good first answer.

The next step? That's when H+M enters the galaxy, with the stamping die expertise to help bring those visual ideas onto the real surface.

May the Fourth be with you!

Special thanks to our colleague Alexander Müske, who created this project in DREAMCOMPOSER® and brought our H+M surface galaxy to life.

The Mechanical Magic of Brass Dies

In manufacturing, sustainability often starts with very practical decisions: how something is made, how carefully material is used and how long a product can remain in use.

At Hinderer + Mühlich, our brass stamping dies support this approach in several ways.

Mechanical production
Our brass dies are produced through an entirely mechanical process, without chemical etching, acids or chemical substances. And no wastewater.

Material recycling
The brass waste generated during production, such as plate remnants and chips, is collected and returned to the material cycle instead of being treated as simple waste.

Longevity and quality
Our brass stamping dies are built to last. They can be stored for extended periods without quality degradation, allowing production to resume later with reliable results.

For us, this is a very practical form of sustainability: making tools in a responsible way, using material carefully and keeping value in the cycle for as long as possible.

Because sometimes sustainability is not loud.
It is built into the way things are made.

Happy World Book Day!

Books show how powerful storytelling is. They draw us in, create emotion and make ideas stay with us.

Brands do something very similar. Through design, materials and finishing, they tell stories about who they are and how they want to be remembered.

That is what makes embellishment so interesting. A texture, an embossing detail or a refined surface effect can add depth to a design and help turn a product into something people do not just see, but really notice.

At H+M, we support designers and brands in bringing these stories to life. With precise stamping dies, we help create the details that give packaging character, strengthen the idea behind a design and make storytelling tangible.

Because sometimes, a story is not only told in words.
Sometimes, it is told in the way a product looks, feels and catches the light.

And of course, books themselves know this very well: a beautiful foil detail, an embossed title or a special texture can be the reason someone reaches for a cover in the first place.

The right finish starts with the right tool.

In stamping, small details can make a surprisingly big difference. And one of the factors behind a clean and precise result is the material of the stamping die itself.

At H+M, we manufacture our stamping dies from brass. Its smooth surface helps transfer even fine details clearly and consistently - supporting results that look sharp, clean and well finished.

🔹 Crisp, defined embossing – No rough edges or imperfections, just clean, sharp impressions.
🔹 Consistency across production runs – No degradation in quality, whether it’s the first or the millionth stamp.
🔹 A premium look and feel – Smooth dies lead to flawless results, enhancing the perceived value of the final product.

Other materials can wear, corrode or lose accuracy over time. Brass offers the stability needed to maintain precision and deliver reliable results again and again.

That is why H+M, a subsidiary of Leonhard KURZ relies on brass for the production of stamping dies.

Because when it comes to quality, there is no room for compromise.

Bold impact can start very small

Sometimes it is the finest details that create the strongest impression. Light catches the surface differently. Details appear as the viewing angle changes. What seems subtle at first suddenly adds movement, depth and a special kind of visual tension.

That is where Micro- and NanoEmbossing become especially interesting. And it is also where the precision of the stamping die makes all the difference.

At H+M, a subsidiary of Leonhard KURZ we develop stamping dies that make these fine visual effects possible in a controlled and reliable way. MicroEmbossing creates delicate visible patterns. NanoEmbossing goes even further, enabling very subtle optical effects that can be up to 40% finer than MicroEmbossing, adding refinement and complexity in a quiet but powerful way.

Both can be used separately or combined within one design, and they can also be used together with embossing elements. The result is a surface with multiple visual layers - nuanced, striking and full of detail - opening up almost endless possibilities for packaging design.

We do not do average.

Not in precision.
Not in detail.
Not in results.

The Average Hero trend, developed by the KURZ Design Team, shines a light on the beauty of everyday life - on ordinary shapes, subtle colors and the quiet impact of small details.

And that is exactly where precision matters most.

Because simple does not mean easy. Reduced designs leave no room for compromise. Every line, every embossing detail and every finishing element has to be right to create the intended effect.

That is where we come in. At H+M, we produce high-precision stamping dies that help turn design concepts like this into reliable, high-quality results - whether a project is complex or visually restrained.

Average may inspire a trend. It should never define your result.
Let’s explore what is possible together.
