We were honoured to welcome the Spanish Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Emma Aparici, to our paper mill in Manchester this week. 🏭

Ambassador Aparici, accompanied by the Consul General of Spain in Manchester, Alejandro Polanco Mata, was welcomed by our Chairman & CEO Susana Alejandro and senior members of the Saica team. Together, they explored our operations and discussed our continued commitment to sustainable manufacturing in the UK.

The visit offered a first-hand look at PM11 - one of the most advanced recycled paper mills in Europe - where 100% recycled paper is produced for corrugated packaging, using recovered materials sourced largely from within the UK.

As Susana Alejandro, Saica CEO, put it:

We were delighted to open our doors to the families of our Saica Pack Warrenpoint team last weekend 🏭

The day offered a wonderful opportunity for families to experience our site first-hand – from activities and a health and safety briefing through to a guided tour of our operations, refreshments, and goody bags for the children.

Thank you to all who joined us and to the team who worked hard to make the day a success. Events like this reflect the values at the heart of Saica Pack ♻️

Prévention, préparation et partenariat au service de la sécurité 🚒
Notre site Venizel a récemment accueilli l’unité de Sauvetage d'Appui et Recherche Sapeurs-pompiers de l'Aisne - SDIS 02 dans le cadre d’un entraînement opérationnel en conditions réelles.

Ces exercices grandeur nature ont permis aux équipes de secours de s’entraîner dans un environnement industriel, au plus près des contraintes et des risques qu’elles peuvent rencontrer sur le terrain : secours en espace difficile d’accès, découpe technique, levage de charges et coordination des interventions.

Pour nos équipes, cette collaboration est également une opportunité précieuse de renforcer les échanges avec les services de secours, de partager la connaissance de nos installations et de consolider notre démarche de prévention et de sécurité.

Un grand merci aux équipes du pour leur professionnalisme, leur partage d'expérience et leur engagement au quotidien. 👏

At Saica Flex Wigan, World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 was centred on one simple idea. Wellbeing is a core part of safety.

Across four days, the Innovation Centre was transformed into a dedicated wellbeing space, giving every employee the chance to step away, recharge and access support in a way that felt comfortable to them. Discreet wellbeing and helpline information cards were also placed in private areas, recognising that not everyone seeks support openly.

The week combined practical action with employee engagement. A Health and Safety suggestion box encouraged colleagues to share ideas and play an active role in reducing risk and improving our workplace. At the same time, colleagues could take part in 20-minute massage sessions, enjoy healthier food options, and experience a meditation sound bath designed to reduce stress and support relaxation.

Simple activities such as word puzzles and Sudoku were also available, creating moments of pause during the working day and helping to promote positive mental health.

This initiative reflects Saica’s ongoing commitment to building a safe, supportive and healthy working environment where wellbeing is not an add-on, but an essential part of how we operate.

We are pleased to share an important milestone: Saica Group has acquired THIMM Group, a German manufacturer of sustainable corrugated cardboard packaging and displays.

This marks a significant step in strengthening our position in the European paper and packaging industry and brings together two family-owned companies with strong shared values, complementary geographic footprints, and a long-standing partnership.

With Thimm’s strong presence in Germany and Eastern Europe, and Saica’s established operations across Western Europe and the United States, this union combines complementary geographic footprints, opening new opportunities to better serve customers, accelerate innovation, and continue advancing sustainable packaging solutions.

Most importantly, this is about people, continuity, and long-term growth. We look forward to welcoming Thimm’s talented teams and building on our shared commitment to caring for a sustainable, green future, and valuing our people.

The transaction is subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities.

To mark World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we recognised outstanding individuals and teams from across the business whose initiatives are making a real, tangible difference to workplace wellbeing

This year’s awards highlight everything from engineering-led risk reduction and AI-powered safety solutions to innovative approaches to hot work isolation and safer site access for external drivers

All of the initiatives were a brilliant reflection of the commitment across Saica’s operations to creating safer, smarter working environments.

We’re excited to share that our new Hartlepool warehouse is now fully operational.

Designed to support future growth, our £10M investment to build the facility significantly expands our capacity across the UK, whilst also strengthening our ability to serve customers, and support local employment across the Northeast.

Sustainability has been a key focus throughout - this site delivers on our environmental commitments through the integration of renewable energy solutions, helping reduce the carbon footprint of our operations Image removed by sender.

Riccardo Tonelli, Regional Director – Saica Pack Northeast, said: ‘We’re delighted to see our Hartlepool facility now fully operational, delivered on time and within budget through strong collaboration across our teams and partners.”

Riccardo will also be speaking at the Northeast Chamber of Commerce Senior Leader's Programme '1815' Lunch in early May, of which Saica is a main sponsor.
