🎭 At Saica , we're proud to support the communities where we live and work.

Recently, we were delighted to help The John Frost School in Newport by providing bespoke corrugated masks and props for their Year 11 Prom. Seeing our materials transformed into eye-catching displays that helped create a memorable celebration for students was a fantastic example of the creativity and versatility of corrugated packaging.

We're thrilled to have played a small part in what the school described as its most successful prom yet, with more than 170 students attending.

A huge thank you to The John Frost School for their kind words and for sharing these fantastic photos. It's always rewarding to see how our support can help create lasting memories for local young people.

The EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) marks one of the most significant shifts the packaging industry has seen in decades, creating a common framework that aims to reduce waste, increase recyclability and accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

While compliance will be a key focus for businesses, PPWR is also an opportunity to rethink packaging design from the outset. The regulation places greater emphasis on recyclability, reducing unnecessary packaging, increasing the use of recycled materials, and ensuring packaging remains a valuable resource rather than waste.

At Saica, we've long believed that packaging should be designed with its entire lifecycle in mind. As investment and innovation continue across the value chain, collaboration between manufacturers, retailers, brands and recyclers will be essential to turning PPWR's ambitions into practical, scalable solutions.

♻️ Recycling just got simpler – but are you recycling right?

With England's new Simpler Recycling rules now in place, households across the country should see a more consistent approach to what can and can't be recycled. The aim is to make recycling easier, reduce confusion and keep more valuable materials in circulation.

Here are three simple tips to help make your recycling count:

✅ Keep recyclables clean and dry. A quick rinse of food packaging can help prevent contamination.

📦 Check the material! Many things we assume can be recycling like disposable coffee cups and receipts, may not actually be recyclable as they are made up a mix of paper, plastic, and chemicals. Abit of quick online research can make sure you know where to put your rubbish

🏷️ When in doubt, check your local guidance. While the materials collected are becoming more consistent across England, there may still be local variations in how they're collected.

Acquisition successfully completed: Thimm is now part of the Saica Group

The acquisition of the Thimm Group by the Saica Group, announced in May 2026, has been successfully completed. Following approval by the European Commission on 24 July 2026, the transaction has now been officially finalized.

As a result, Thimm's sites in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania, with nearly 2,500 employees, have become part of the Saica Group and all plants will remain operational.

This marks an important milestone for both companies. Saica and Thimm have enjoyed a long-standing partnership since the late 1990s. Together, we are strengthening our presence in Central and Eastern Europe and shaping the future of the European packaging industry.
