It was a pleasure to welcome third-year Civil Engineering students from Cardiff University to our Marlas site, which Griffiths is delivering on behalf of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.

The visit gave students an insight into the drivers behind the scheme, the progress made to date, and the challenges and opportunities involved in delivering major infrastructure projects.

At Griffiths, we are passionate about helping to develop the next generation of engineers by providing opportunities for students to connect their academic learning with real-world project experience. We hope the visit provided valuable insight and inspiration as they consider their future careers in the industry.

Investing in the workforce of tomorrow

Today, our Regional Social Value Co-ordinator, Kate Hamilton-Border, attended the Employer Conference: Shaping Future Talent Through Meaningful Work Experience in Bristol, bringing together employers committed to creating high-quality opportunities for young people. The event explored how businesses can work more closely with education providers to raise aspirations, develop skills and open up pathways into rewarding careers.

At Griffiths, we are passionate about inspiring the next generation and helping young people gain meaningful insight into the world of construction and civil engineering. Through work experience, careers engagement and community partnerships, we are proud to play our part in developing future talent and supporting social mobility.

A big thank you to the West of England Combined Authority Careers Hub and organisers for hosting such an insightful and collaborative event. We look forward to continuing to work with partners across the region to create opportunities that make a lasting difference.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster.

At 9.15am, we join communities across Wales and the United Kingdom in remembering the 144 people who lost their lives on 21 October 1966, including 116 children.

We remember those who were lost, honour the survivors and families affected, and reflect on the enduring strength and resilience of the Aberfan community.

It was fantastic to be at the Ysgol Friars Careers Fair, speaking with students from Years 9-13 about the diverse and rewarding careers available in construction.

With team members from our nearby Penrhos Road Active Travel Project supporting the event, students had the opportunity to hear first-hand about the projects being delivered in their local community and the many routes into the industry.

Engaging with young people and helping them understand the pathways available is an important part of inspiring the future workforce our industry needs.

🎓 We're at Y Pant Comprehensive School Careers Fair today, meeting students of all ages and sharing the wide range of career opportunities available in the construction and infrastructure industry.

From apprenticeships and trainee roles to professional and technical careers, we're passionate about helping young people discover the many pathways our industry has to offer.

We are proud to have renewed our commitment as a Future Talent Business Partner with Weston College's Career Excellence Hub for 2026/27.

Through this partnership, we'll continue to support young people by providing opportunities to develop their skills, gain valuable industry insight and explore rewarding careers in construction and civil engineering.

🏆 National Recognition for Kepax Footbridge

We are delighted to celebrate another outstanding success, with Kepax Footbridge being named a RIBA National Award 2026 winner, having already secured a RIBA West Midlands Award earlier this year.

At an awards programme renowned for recognising the very best in architecture, it's particularly special to see a bridge receive national recognition. RIBA itself highlighted Kepax Footbridge among its 32 National Award winners, showcasing how infrastructure can deliver not only functionality, but also exceptional design, connectivity and social value.

As the contractor, we're incredibly proud to have played our part in delivering this landmark project alongside our partners, helping to create a structure that is transforming connections across Worcester and demonstrating how great infrastructure can become a true civic asset.

🎬 The wait is almost over!

Last year, members of our North Wales team were proud to support the DIY SOS Big Build in Llanberis, helping to transform a home for a local family alongside volunteers, businesses and organisations from across the community.

After keeping the project under wraps for almost a year, we're excited that the Llanberis episode airs next Tuesday, 20 October. 📺

A huge thank you once again to Joe, Sion, Gavin, Euron and Sion, who represented Griffiths brilliantly and played their part in this life-changing project.

🏆 A fantastic night at the British Construction & Infrastructure Awards 2026!

We're proud to have played a key role in three projects recognised on one of the construction industry's biggest stages.

✅ Part of the Craidd Alliance team behind the award-winning South Wales Metro – Building the Core Valley Lines project, which secured both the prestigious Sir John Armitt Prize and the Transport Project Award.
✅ Highly Commended in the Environmental Project Award category as lead contractor on the Newport, Stephenson Street Flood Scheme Project.

These achievements reflect the dedication, expertise and collaboration of our people, partners and clients. Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering projects that create lasting benefits for communities across Wales and beyond.

We're pleased to see progress continuing at the Graigddu Tip Stabilisation Project in Dinas, and were delighted to recently welcome Councillor Ann Crimmings, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, to site to see first-hand the work being delivered by our team in partnership with the Council's Coal Tip Safety Officers.

Since works commenced in July, significant progress has been made, including vegetation clearance, construction of site access routes, reinforced working platforms for piling operations, and extensive drainage improvements. We're now pleased to have reached another key milestone, with piling underway for the new anchored retaining wall that will help stabilise ground conditions and enhance safety for the local community.

Projects like this require close collaboration between all partners, and we'd like to thank local residents for their continued patience and cooperation while these essential works are undertaken.

We look forward to continuing our work with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council as the project progresses over the coming months.
