ng systems most commonly installed burn wood pellets from strictly monitored, sustainably maintained forestry plantations. Some systems can also be fuelled by kiln dried logs or compresssed wood briquettes from the same sources giving the user more flexibility when selecting fuel sources. As they use specially grown timber any CO² produced is offset by the CO² captured by the growth of the timber. Making the systems effectively carbon neutral. Combined heating & power systems
A Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant consists of an electrical generator, combined with equipment for recovering and using the heat produced by that generator. They can fuelled by wood gassification boilers using wood chips, pellets logs or briquettes or by domestic gas suplies. Combined Heat and Power (CHP), or co-generation as it is also known, is the process of capturing and using the waste heat produced by the generation of electricity. This can bring overall energy savings of up to 40%

Solar PV
While the government as decimated the Feed in Tarrifs (FiT) for solar PV it can still be a worthwhile investment when included as part of a major refurbishment project as it can add to the re-sale value & appeal of a property. Ground source heating
Ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) use pipes which are buried in the garden to extract heat from the ground. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor or warm air heating systems and hot water in your home. GSHPs currently attract very generous RHI payments and the initial cost of the installation is soon recouped.

Rumours are flying around everywhere in Barrowford! Some say the Social Media guy lost the password for our facebook, other people say he’s been on an ill-timed holiday to the Middle East for the last few weeks and is very sun-tanned!

The only thing we can confirm for definite is that we’re officially a WHICH? approved Solar Energy Provider as well as being recognised by Lancashire County Council as a Safe Trader as part of their scheme! Nothing we didn’t already know, but it’s always great to have official governing bodies accessing us and patting us on the back 🙌🏻

We’re chuffed to bits and we’ve stuck stickers in the windows and everything! ☀️

We had a lovely time this morning meeting the man himself, George Greenwood, who has been collecting Easter Eggs for other children in Hospitals that may miss out on the chocolate and festivities due to their illnesses. What an absolutely inspirational and selfless young man - we gave him as many eggs as Nicola could fit in her trolley!

We wish him all the luck with the rest of his campaign and are happy to accept chocolate or other donations on his behalf and will pass them along if you're feeling generous!
