Breathing New Life into a Beautiful Cottage

There's something incredibly satisfying about working on traditional properties using the materials they were originally built with.

On this project, I repaired, then carried out Lime plastering to a Clay Lump wall helping preserve the character and integrity of this lovely cottage. Unlike modern gypsum plasters, Lime plaster is breathable, allowing moisture to evaporate naturally through the walls. This helps reduce damp issues while protecting the historic fabric of the building.

Every heritage property deserves an approach that's sympathetic to its age and construction. Using the correct materials isn't just about appearance—it's about ensuring these buildings continue to stand the test of time.

If you own an older property, cottage, listed building or period home and would like advice on Lime plastering or traditional building repairs, I'd be happy to help.

📢 Know someone who needs a Builder in Essex?

I'm currently taking on new work across Braintree and the surrounding area — and I'd love a recommendation if you know someone who needs:

🔨 Building & Renovation work
🏠 Home maintenance & repairs
🎨 Painting & decorating
🧱 Plastering
🛁 Bathroom refurbishments
📐 Extensions

I've built this business entirely through word of mouth over 10 years — every recommendation genuinely helps and is always appreciated.

A great transformation completed recently in Stisted. The client needed additional storage space, so we designed and built a bespoke fitted wardrobe solution tailored perfectly to the room.
The client wanted a made-to-measure wardrobe installation within their bedroom, which required several alterations before the final joinery could be constructed.

The works included:
✔ Carefully removing and blocking up an existing window
✔ Enlarging the loft access hatch to improve access and usability
✔ Constructing and installing a bespoke fitted wardrobe built to the client's exact dimensions and requirements

By carrying out all aspects of the project, from structural alterations through to the finished cabinetry, we were able to deliver a seamless, tailored solution that maximised the available space while meeting the client's vision.

If you're considering bespoke storage, property alterations, or home improvement projects, feel free to get in touch for a no-obligation discussion.

🪣 Thinking about a home improvement project this spring?

Here are 3 things to sort out BEFORE you start:

1️⃣ Get your quotes in writing — always. A verbal quote is worth nothing if the price changes halfway through.

2️⃣ Check your Builder is insured — public liability insurance protects YOU as well as them.

3️⃣ Agree a payment schedule upfront — never pay the full amount in advance.

Happy to chat through any upcoming project — free no-obligation quotes always available.
