Moores Cottage, Stogursey — finished and cleaned down. 🏠
A proper period property job, and we’re pleased with how the inglenook has come out. Have a look at that arch — the brick and stonework had been buried under salt-contaminated render for years.
The survey found historic penetrating damp and rising damp through the fireplace, dining room, staircase and the bedroom wardrobe above. The radius corner beside the fireplace had been re-skimmed by decorators only weeks before, and the salts had already come back through the new plaster. That’s the sign the background needs treating, not decorating.
While on site we also found a structural timber beside the inglenook riddled with woodworm, which took us up into the roof void — where the infestation had spread through the main roof timbers.
Completed works:
🔹 Inglenook — render off, salt inhibitor, tanking slurry, waterproof render with float finish
🔹 Inglenook floor — PermaCOAT Pro one-coat epoxy DPM with sand key, ready for the owner’s finish
🔹 Dining room, staircase, bedroom wardrobe — plaster off to 1200mm, salt inhibitor, slurry coat, re-render
🔹 Woodworm — Lignum Pro applied by mechanical spray to the roof void and affected timber
Everything sheeted, protected and cleaned down on completion, and all covered by our 10-year guarantee.
Let the new render dry fully before decorating — a breathable finish is the way to go.
