Once again, we proudly donated one of our Mackley trucks to the 35th Brighton Pride 2026 celebrations last weekend.

Our truck took to the streets as part of the Brighton & Hove Pride 2026 Parade, helping bring colour, energy and celebration to an event that champions equality, inclusion and community.

As in previous years, we donate the use of one of our vehicles, with the associated fee supporting local LGBTQ+ charities and community organisations through Pride's fundraising efforts.

Supporting the communities where we live and work is a core part of who we are, and we're delighted to play a small part to help make this incredible event possible.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising another fantastic Pride, and to our brilliant driver and team members who helped ensure everything ran smoothly on the day.

Happy Pride, Brighton! 🌈

We never lose sight of the real world impact we have on the environment around us. It's why we work to the highest standards and always with the future in mind.

Widewater Lagoon is a prime example of this. A beautiful, coastal nature reserve and one of Lancing’s hidden treasures was drying up due to low rainfall and high temperatures last summer.

The local residents and environmental group found this was exacerbated by damage to the mitigation pipe that feeds the Lagoon, which was having a devastating impact on the local wildlife population.

Through our work with the Environment Agency, we were able to identify the source of the problem, facilitate short and long term solutions and preserve this important habitat for the future.

We are proud of the impact our work has on the communities and wildlife we seek to preserve for years to come.

🏖️ Looking after local residents is always important to us, so receiving positive feedback from the community is especially rewarding.

Our parent company, Van Oord UK Ltd, is currently delivering Phase 2 of the Brighton Marina to River Adur Coastal Scheme and will soon begin the shingle recharge element of the project. Over the past six months, Mackley has been constructing the new timber groynes along the coastline in preparation.

When our friendly local neighbour, Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim), asked whether he could make use of some timber off-cuts from the works, we were only too happy to oblige. He even shared this fantastic message with the team as he prepared for his Big Beach Boutique show over the weekend.

A huge thank you to Mr Cook, we're delighted to hear you're a fan of our groynes! 😊

to a fantastic few days at Flood & Coast!

It was a great opportunity for the Mackley team to connect with industry colleagues, clients and partners, share knowledge, and discuss the future of climate change resilience across our coastlines, waterways and beyond.

A big thank you to CIWEM (The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management) who organised this incredible event and everyone who stopped by our stand, shared ideas and made our time at Flood and Coast such a success. We're proud to be part of an industry that's committed to protecting people, places and the environment.

Behind every successful project is the collective effort of the many companies, teams and individuals who make it happen.

It's a reminder that great infrastructure isn't built by one organisation alone; it's built by dynamic teams working together with a shared purpose.

This was demonstrated by winning Team of the Year for the Twyford Footbridge Replacement project at the ICE South East England Engineering Excellence Awards.

While we are honoured to receive this Team of the Year award, the achievement belongs to the entire project team. From our delivery partners, specifically TILT who coordinated the design and supported the whole project, to our client The Environment Agency and their consultants, Mott McDonald and Binnies. This recognition reflects the power of collaboration across every organisation involved.

Great team work is embedded in everything we do. We know that when collective expertise is combined, challenging engineering becomes achievable, communities benefit, and our projects leave a lasting positive impact.

Congratulations and thank you again to every member of this high functioning team, we couldn't be more proud!

As well as winning Best Project - Sustainability and Team of the Year at the ICE South East England Engineering Excellence Awards 2026 last Thursday, Duncan Codd, Head of Technical Services won a President's gift.

The Presidential gifts are awarded as part of the President’s visit around each region and the people nominated are those who have made a significant contribution to our industry.

Duncan is a hugely proactive SCE at Mackley and has expanded his role to become a mentor, generously sharing his time, support and experience with his colleagues and trainees. He is instrumental in helping to support the next generation of qualified engineers.

Congratulations to Duncan!

🏆 We were thrilled to see Lila D. take home a well deserved win for Most Promising Trainee Quantity Surveyor at the CECA Southern Awards last week.

One of the most rewarding aspects of what we do is supporting the next generation and watching them grow, succeed, and shape the future of this exciting and vital industry.

Lila's dedication, enthusiasm and hard work have been evident from day one, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved. We're incredibly proud to have been part of her journey so far and can't wait to see what she achieves next.

Congratulations, Lila!
