A new chapter for a family farm in Carmarthenshire 🌳

Three generations of Mari’s family had lived in their 19th-century farmhouse in South West Wales. When her father passed away, Mari and Garry moved home from Cardiff to be near her mum, and set out to build a new oak frame farmhouse alongside the old one.

"It's unrecognisable from the old house!" 🌳

Mared and Nick Morant transformed their 1930s Surrey home with a two-storey oak frame extension, and the oak does the structural work instead of steel.

The oak runs right through the house:
• A pitched gable kitchen with floor-length glazing
• Oak framing around the kitchen doors and an oak front porch
• A striking oak truss at the entrance to the master suite
• A beam that carries on from the bedroom into the ensuite

The frame went up in around two weeks.
