Six AdBlue pump enquiries in a few days. Is the weather playing a part?

After weeks of hot, dry weather followed by thunderstorms and heavy rain, we've suddenly seen a noticeable increase in enquiries for AdBlue pumps and dosing modules.

Coincidence? Possibly.

We're certainly not saying the weather is responsible for every fault. AdBlue and SCR systems can develop problems for many different reasons, including crystallisation, contamination, wiring, connectors and the pump itself.

But after the weather we've had, it'll be interesting to see whether garages and operators notice an increase in AdBlue and SCR problems.

Are you seeing more AdBlue faults in the workshop at the moment?

If you've got a vehicle causing you problems, send us the OE part number or a clear photo of the unit label.

We can check the repair, remanufactured and new replacement options available before you order another unit.

Think we only repair ECUs?

You're not the first!

While engine ECUs are still a big part of what we do, they're only one part of the picture.

Our workshop also regularly repairs:

✅ Allison Gear Selectors
✅ Volvo Instrument Clusters
✅ Dennis Eagle Instrument Clusters
✅ Wiring Looms
✅ Heater & Climate Control Units
✅ Air Suspension (ECAS) Remotes
✅ Atlas ACM Control Units
✅ Volvo I-Shift Gear Selectors
✅ Intellitec Rocker Switch Adaptors

If you've got a commercial vehicle electronic unit sitting on the shelf because you're not sure whether it's repairable, get in touch before ordering a replacement.

Send us a photo of the label or give us a call. If it's something we repair, we'll let you know. If it isn't, we'll be honest and point you in the right direction.

We're always happy to help.

Meet the newest member of the team...

Big Red. ❤️

It doesn't drink tea.
It doesn't take lunch breaks.
But it's already pulling its weight!

Our new 6-tonne hydraulic press has joined the workshop and is helping us dismantle some of the toughest ECUs safely and without causing unnecessary damage.

Sometimes the right tool really does make all the difference.

Welcome to the team, Big Red!

One faulty ECU was all it took to stop this truck leaving the yard.

A commercial vehicle dealer had a used Mercedes truck ready for its new owner, but a faulty PLD Engine ECU meant the sale couldn't be completed.

The ECU was sent to our workshop, repaired, fully tested and returned.

The result? The truck was able to be shipped to its happy new owner.

Not every repair is about getting a vehicle back on the road. Sometimes it's about helping a garage or dealer complete a sale and keeping business moving.

If you've got a commercial vehicle electronic unit that you're unsure about, don't assume it needs replacing. Get in touch first and we'll give you an honest assessment of whether it's repairable.

Typical turnaround is 3 working days, subject to fault type and parts availability.

So far we've got:

Engine ECUs
• Scania
• Mercedes Atego
• MAN
• DAF

Plus
• Volvo Instrument Cluster
• Atlas Switch Control Module

With the hot weather continuing, we're seeing plenty of electronic units arriving for assessment and repair.

If you've got an ECU, dashboard, switch control module or another electronic unit sitting on the shelf because you're unsure whether it's repairable, get in touch before ordering a replacement.

We'll always give you an honest assessment first.

It's the little things...

Jon arrived at the workshop this morning to find our new customer parking signs in place. He even stopped to take a quick photo.

Nothing major, just another small improvement as we continue growing Remanufactured Parts.

Not every electronic component works behind the scenes.

Some of the hardest-working electronics on a commercial vehicle are the ones the driver uses every day.

This Scania Switch Control Module landed on our bench recently after years of daily use.

Hundreds of button presses, constant vibration and thousands of miles can all take their toll. Over time, it's not unusual for these units to develop faults, leaving drivers with controls that become intermittent, unresponsive or stop working altogether.

Rather than automatically replacing the complete unit, repair can often provide a practical and cost-effective alternative.

🌡️ This Thermo King climate control module landed on our bench today.

When a vehicle's climate control system develops a fault, it's easy to assume the air conditioning system itself is to blame.

In some cases, however, the fault lies within the electronic control unit that manages the system. These are the units we specialise in repairing.

With the current hot weather, we'll be interested to see whether more climate control modules start arriving in the workshop over the coming weeks.

Rather than replacing the complete unit, repair can often provide a practical alternative, helping reduce downtime and unnecessary replacement costs.

The recent heatwave has certainly put vehicle climate control systems to work.

In commercial vehicles, buses and coaches, climate control faults are not always caused by the air conditioning system itself. Often the issue sits within the control electronics that manage it.

As temperatures stay high, we expect more climate control modules and switch & control units to start appearing in the workshop.

Common faults can include:

• Display problems
• Intermittent operation
• Non-responsive controls
• Communication faults between modules

Repair can often provide a cost-effective alternative to replacement, helping operators get vehicles back into service without the expense of a new unit.

If you have a faulty climate control module or switch control unit and would like to discuss repair options, our team will be happy to help.

One thing we regularly see in the workshop is people assuming ECU repair is simply replacing a failed component.

In reality, a lot of the work sits around the process itself.

- Disassembly.
- Heat control.
- Diagnostics.
- Rebuild consistency.
- Testing.

Modern commercial vehicle electronics are densely packed and designed to operate in harsh environments for years. By the time a unit arrives with us, the fault is often only part of the challenge.

As our engineer Jon Lowe recently said:

“The disassembly and rebuild stage is often where time is won or lost. Repetition removes uncertainty, and that is what improves consistency.”

Across Mercedes, Scania, MAN, Volvo and DAF ECUs, we are seeing more operators explore repair earlier, particularly where downtime and parts availability are becoming bigger issues.

Increasingly, repair is not just about reducing cost. It is about keeping vehicles moving.
