A quick heads-up for our customers ⛽️

Fuel prices are continuing to move in one direction at the moment - so if you need to fill up, it may be worth doing so over the weekend.

Weekends also tend to be a little quieter for getting on and off Sheepbridge, which makes popping in a bit easier.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our small independent business. We really do appreciate it.

We wanted to give customers a quick update regarding our diesel price.

Due to the sudden escalation of conflict in the Middle East, global oil markets reacted immediately, causing a rapid increase in wholesale fuel prices. Unfortunately, this meant that on Monday afternoon, our pump price for diesel rose by 10p per litre.

Over the weekend we posted on our page advising people to fill up, as the market indicators we monitor suggested prices were likely to jump. Many people took action and we were extremely busy on the pumps over the weekend and the cost of our delivery on Monday morning to replenish supplies had already jumped.

As a small independent business, we operate very differently from the large multinational fuel retailers. They often have the scale and buying power to ride out market changes for longer periods. We simply don’t have that luxury - our pump prices reflect the cost we are paying for deliveries.

We know we won’t always be the absolute cheapest, but we will always endeavour to maintain supply and the quality of the products we sell.

When making price comparisons, please also make sure you are comparing like for like. Our super diesel is a premium, higher-quality product, so it should not be compared with standard diesel prices elsewhere.

Prices will increase further as the conflict continues - the situation is already creating significant disruption and uncertainty in the global crude oil supply.

Our team are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to secure deliveries and maintain supply, whilst some of our competitors are currently unable to obtain deliveries or firm wholesale prices at all.

We do appreciate customer frustrations at the increases and we always take onboard your feedback, it is unfortunate and possibly the nature of what we do that some people judge us only on our latest price and not on the last 50+ years of continued supply of quality products at usually very competitive prices.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support during what are challenging and unpredictable times. ⛽️

Today has probably been one of the busiest and toughest days, with a definite sense of panic fuel buying.

Typically, as we only have one location and one set of tanks we can only spot purchase and times like this the markets are hugely volatile.

I have never known it like today though, with 4 of our 5 suppliers not even able to offer me sensible prices because the market was moving faster than they were happy to risk on.

Luckily I was however able to get a delivery this afternoon, and hope to do the same on Wednesday and Friday but prices were swinging by as much as 15ppl if they had to price!! 😳

I can’t promise we will continue to be the cheapest in the following few weeks as the control is completely out of our hands, but I will continue to do my best.

After today’s delivery we still remain cheaper than Mold and local surrounding areas! 🙏

Let hope the dust settles and I can at least have some prediction on where the prices will go, to allow you all to plan.

Panic buying nationwide also has a secondary effect on fuel prices too. So if everyone can only get what they really NEED that also helps to steady prices and supply/demand too.

Thanks for your support.

Fuel prices “swinging by 15p a litre” in a day.

This is what fuel volatility actually looks like.

An independent fuel station posted this today and it really shows what’s happening behind the scenes.

They described today as “one of the busiest and toughest days, with a definite sense of panic fuel buying.”

Because they only operate from one location with one set of tanks, they have to buy fuel on the spot market, and right now that market is extremely volatile.

In their words “I have never known it like today.”

Four out of five suppliers wouldn’t even offer prices because “the market was moving faster than they were happy to risk on.”

Think about that.

Prices were reportedly swinging by as much as 15p per litre in a single day, if suppliers were even willing to price at all.

They managed to secure a delivery and remain cheaper than surrounding areas (for now), but they were honest when saying “I can’t promise we will continue to be the cheapest…the control is completely out of our hands.”

This is what panic buying does.

It doesn’t just empty pumps, it pushes wholesale volatility, makes pricing unpredictable, and ultimately feeds into higher costs for everyone.

“If everyone can only get what they really NEED that also helps to steady prices and supply/demand.”

Worth remembering.

We’ve seen this before, and it never ends well when fear drives the market.

Let’s hope things settle quickly.
