Who has been watching the latest series of on ITV?

We have, and something really triggered us in the very first episode!

When the lead character Lana searches the truck, we could not help but notice the questionable in the scene; poorly applied, and without any stretch whatsoever.

Let's just say that's not how we would recommend wrapping a pallet; and we are surprised the series did not start with an even bigger bang as a result, because those pallet loads would have collapsed by that point!

At Manupackaging UK, we agree that we all should be using less plastic to wrap pallets; but correctly applied stretch film is not about making loads look neat for TV.

The right wrapping technique, film, and user knowledge can all help improve load stability, use film more efficiently, and reduce unnecessary packaging waste and expense.

When it comes to pallet wrapping, how you apply it actually matters; so if your current stretch film use is triggering you, contact us, as we can pick up on the small details that can make the biggest differences.

(…And if the ITV prop department ever want any tips on realistic pallet wrapping, we're happy to help!)

Today, the EU's Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) comes into force.

This means that UK businesses supplying the EU market, must ensure their packaging use demonstrates:

> Maximum recyclability where possible
> Minimal waste
> Clear identification
> Reuse or refill options are offered for certain products
> Avoidance of unnecessary packaging and harmful substances

This applies regardless of whether the packaging is used in a primary, secondary, tertiary or service capacity.

With a number of possible consequences for non-compliant packaging use, such as goods being refused entry or fines, if you have not yet assessed the suitability of your packaging, book a free STATS audit now.

Some of the changes you could make may not be as big as you think, but still make a huge difference.

And if you are not supplying the EU market - we can still help you implement sustainable packaging and reduce your overall packaging use and cost.

With talk of PPWR making the rounds and its enforcement date drawing nearer, PPWR does not necessarily mean full-on packaging overhauls.

The smallest changes can make just as big a difference, and some of those changes we are already making for you; PPWR can also include what we supply packaging in or on –such as cardboard cores and boxes - ensuring these fully recycled or easier to recycle, reducing the volume of packaging that we use to deliver goods to customers.

Choosing packaging components that support easier recycling, such as Manupackaging UK’s 219 Paper Tape, can be a small change that delivers huge results; 219 truly offers secure carton sealing without the requirement for additional reinforcement, and helps support fibre-based recycling streams.

Combining these small changes with the right packaging strategy helps achieve the objectives of PPWR – simplifying and increasing recyclability for a more circular economy as part of wider sustainability goals.

While every step to a more circular future is crucial, the decisions behind your packaging matter, and do not need to be made alone. So contact us, because we are here to help inform and support you make those choices at the time when it matters the most – today.

PPWR is not just another regulation that needs to be followed; it can also be a great opportunity to rethink your packaging solutions.

As the industry is moving towards even greater recyclability and waste reduction, customers need to think about how this impacts their business, consider more than sufficient product protection, and look at the whole product lifecycle of their packaging.

To help find the right answers, the questions we ask at Manupackaging UK include:

> Is your packaging easy to recycle?
> Are you using more material than is necessary?
> Could alternative packaging solutions improve efficiency and sustainability?
> Are you prepared for future customer and regulatory expectations?

We help customers identify and implement practical packaging solutions to balance performance, sustainability, and cost – and by helping customers make changes now, we can ensure you meet and exceed compliance and expectation.

Now is a valuable time to have these conversations; contact us and stay ahead of PPWR.

The EU’s new Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation – or PPWR – will change how everybody thinks about their packaging use.

Sustainable packaging is no longer about just optimising the actual materials we use in day-to-day packaging, but pushing towards the use of packaging products designed to overall minimise recycling loss for a more circular economy.

Although PPWR came into force on 11th February 2025 and applies to UK companies who place packaging on the EU market. The first major obligations will apply in the UK from 12th August 2026, with full implementation likely to happen over the coming years to businesses across manufacturing, logistics and more.

And while PPWR does not apply to packaging that stays within the UK, consumers should be taking this as a strong opportunity to review their packaging strategies.

Those who do and prepare now, Manupackaging UK can help put in a better position to:

> Reduce unnecessary packaging
> Improve overall recyclability operations
> Keep ahead of customer expectations
> Avoid costly last-minute changes

Speak with us – we can help you better understand what these changes mean in your practice, and how simple packaging improvements you can make today can make compliance much easier tomorrow.

Have you noticed with most hand tapes, there is a lot of empty space in the actual product you buy?

So we made use of it.

Infinitape from Manupackaging UK literally fills the gap in more cost-efficient manual taping - by reducing the size of the core by 50%, a single roll of Infinitape holds 150m of usable tape without being any bigger than a standard roll in comparison.

No compromise in tape performance or quality; simply giving you more of it for your money to reduce your taping costs going forwards:

- Lower recycling costs due to smaller core size and quantity
- Fewer tape roll changes for increased user efficiency
- More metres of tape per delivery reducing supply frequency, storage requirements, and cost.

Combine the use of Infinitape with our Infinitape dispensers, and that really is reliable taping, infinitely better.
