A clean finish, right down to the details 👌

The existing timber roof window was replaced with a white polyurethane VELUX, with a moisture-resistant, maintenance-free internal finish.

Fitted into the existing opening, with careful attention to the flashing and waterproofing to ensure a weathertight installation.

A flying pleated blind was also fitted, adjustable from both the top and bottom for flexible control over light and privacy.

Inside, the surrounding area was re-plastered and painted to blend seamlessly with the existing room, leaving the job fully finished.

Some difference a new front makes! 🧱

Recent garage job in Killyleagh. The front had a lot of structural issues that needed sorting, so we put in new foundations to carry the new blockwork and rebuilt the front gable, strengthening the garage in the process.

Finished with smooth render, an electric insulated roller door and matching black barge rafters. All done to the same standard you’d expect on a house, with care taken over the structure and the finish.

All put right and looking the part now. Night and day from where it started.

7-METRE GARAGE ROOF REFURBISHMENT

The original roof had been lined with reinforced PVC sheeting rather than a purpose-designed roofing underlay. This type of material is more suited to temporary weather protection and had become brittle, torn and was falling apart beneath the tiles.

Once stripped, rotten barge timbers were also uncovered, confirming that this roof needed a proper rebuild—not another temporary repair.
The existing Quinn Locherne double-pantile roof tiles were carefully removed, checked and re-laid.

Work completed:
✓ New treated barge rafters installed
✓ New breathable roofing membrane
✓ New 50 × 25mm treated tiling battens, set out to the correct gauge
✓ Continuous over-fascia ventilation with eaves felt support trays, helping direct any moisture safely into the gutter
✓ Continuous mechanically fixed dry verges, giving both gables a sleek and secure finish
✓ New grey half-round ridge tiles fitted on a ventilated, mechanically fixed dry-ridge system
✓ Profiled ridge infills completing the dry-ridge system for a neat, high-end finish.

The result is a secure, ventilated and low-maintenance roof system, with mortar-free ridge and verge details built to withstand the weather.
At DARV Construction, we don’t cover over defects or settle for short-term fixes. We identify the underlying problems, use the correct materials and complete every detail to a consistently high standard—delivering premium workmanship and results built to last.
