We were back helping one of our returning customers, who is getting ready to open their brand-new hair salon in Saltcoats! 💇‍♀️✨

Today’s job was fitting a Katie Pro Wash hairdressing backwash unit, getting another important part of the salon ready for opening day. 🔧🚿

Simple answer — we don’t believe in cutting corners! 💯

At MS Gas & Home Refurbishment, we strip the old tiles or wet wall back and start again.

We remove the existing finish, inspect the walls and prepare everything properly before installing new Jackoboard/cement board, followed by full tanking in all wet areas where required.

This gives us a solid, waterproof and properly prepared surface for your new tiles or wet wall.

Yes, it can take a little longer — but it means you’re getting a bathroom that’s built properly from the start, rather than simply covering up old problems.

How do you prepare the bathroom before fitting?

We remove all existing wet wall panels, tiles, and other wall coverings to ensure the installation begins with a clean, suitable surface.

Where required, we install Jackoboard on the walls and cement board on the floor to provide a stable, durable base for the new bathroom installation.

We also fully tank all wet areas to help prevent water pe*******on, protect the underlying structure, and ensure a long-lasting, professional finish.

Thorough preparation is essential to delivering a high-quality bathroom that is both visually appealing and built to last.

🚨 THIS LEAK WASN’T EASY TO FIND! 💧🔧

We were called out to a block of 4 flats in Darvel after residents heard water rushing and discovered the solum was full of water.

We lifted what we could to try and locate the source, but the leak was proving difficult to access. We eventually had to drill through a concrete pad and remove sandstone blocks and rubble to expose the pipework.

Once we located the problem, we capped the old lead pipe, allowing us to get the water supply safely back on for all 4 flats. 💦✅

We’ll be returning to carry out the permanent repair, replacing the old lead pipe with MDPE pipework.

Another challenging job, but we got the leak located, made safe and everyone’s water back on. 👌

Another busy Tuesday for the team! 👨‍🔧🔥

We started the day in Darvel, completing a boiler breakdown repair and replacing a gas hob.

From there, we headed to Newmilns where we repaired an unvented cylinder issue, carried out an LPG boiler service, and completed another gas hob replacement.

To round off the day, we finished up in Kilmarnock with yet another gas hob installation.
