Groundworks Apprenticeships – September 2026 Intake

Watson and Son Construction Ltd are looking to recruit 2 Groundworks Apprentices to join our growing team starting September 2026.

This is a great opportunity for motivated individuals who want to start a career in the construction industry while gaining hands-on experience on site.

What we’re looking for:
- Reliable and hardworking individuals
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
- Must be able to travel to Derwentside College for training

What we offer:

🚨🚨 Breaking ground at Sniperley Durham 🚨🚨

Great first week on site after mobilising last Tuesday. A strong start from the team as we begin progress on this 188-plot development.

First 5 days progress:
• 4 foundations completed
• 15 plots cut and filled
• 240m² shared drive stoned up and tarmacked for clean, safe access
• Materials delivered and stored within working areas
• Site office installed

Bricklayers arriving on site tomorrow as the build begins to take shape. Looking forward to seeing this development progress over the coming months.

Further investment from WSC to ensure our operators and lads on the ground have the best tools to do their job welcoming excavators 16/17 & 18 along with rollers 3 & 4 to the fleet

First month back after the Christmas break and it’s been a horrendous one 🌧️🙈💦

That said, the lads have done a stellar job across all our live sites despite the tough conditions. Credit where it’s due 👏

Key achievements:

FNDs 21 dug and poured with 5 of those scoring 6’s with no items 👌
460 m2 of adoptable footpath installed
900 m² of shared drive prepped and blocked out
Plots progressed to CML 24
300 lm of main drainage installed
1,500 m² of road capped and Type 1 laid
800 m² taken through to base and binder
