The old girl took a bit of coaxing to come down but we got there in the end. Just some commissioning to go and we’re back in the game. A big thanks to all the employees, contractors who have made this a smooth transition, it was never going to be easy changing all cranes at once but you have all been played a part in getting it done. 👏👏👏

It’s all change at Elgin in the coming weeks with 4 new cranes being installed including a new dipping canopy crane. The 2 old Clayton’s were originals from 78 and we had ‘triggers broom’d’ them until the parts eventually ran dry.

A cracking job by Morgan Blacksmiths for this garden centre in Mugdock on the north side of Glasgow. Galvanized for corrosion protection and powder coated for a touch of colour.

A galv plant is tough place for plant and machinery so sooner or later things need replaced. Last weekend it was time for the old drier frame. The boys from Wright and Maclennan did a fine job fabricating and installing, with our lads giving a helping hand, well done all 👍

Not sure where these are going but they were spec’d INDESTRUCTIBLE even before they got their shield of zinc. All solid with not a hollow section in sight!

It’s been a challenging start to the year with a number of breakdowns proving very frustrating in Elgin. We have 4 new cranes due to be installed in May but I think the old ones heard us and the toys have definitely been launched from the pram. Tonight we are back to full capacity and fingers crossed we can stay that way till May. A big thanks to the crews, maintenance, managers and customers who have helped and shown patience, it’s much appreciated.

This gives you an idea of how we hang different sections that are to be galvanized. They are wired to a comb which allows the dipper to create the best angle for the zinc to run off. They are loaded horizontally to make hanging and cutting down safer and easier. Well done team 👏

By powder coating onto galvanizing you stop the zinc depletion clock. The powder coat on this gate will likely last 50 plus years so even doing no maintenance structural integrity will be assured for over 100 years.
