Can your electric car power your home?

We’ve had loads of people asking about V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) charging recently!

In simple terms… yes – SOME EVs can send power back into your home and act like a battery

But here’s the important bit...

- Not all electric cars support it
- Not all chargers can do it
- It’s still developing in the UK

Right now V2H relies on “bidirectional charging” – meaning energy can flow both ways between your home and your car.

It’s an exciting step forward (especially with rising energy costs), but it’s not yet a one-size-fits-all solution.

EV Charger Grant Increased to £500

The UK Government has announced a 40% increase to the EV chargepoint grant, raising support from £350 to £500 per socket.

This funding could significantly reduce the cost of installing EV chargers for:

✔ Renters
✔ Flat owners
✔ Homes without driveways
✔ Landlords
✔ Businesses installing workplace charging

Eligible applicants can claim up to 50% of installation costs, capped at £500.

With home charging potentially costing as little as 2p per mile, this boost could help make electric vehicle ownership more accessible than ever.

Further scheme details are expected on 1 April 2026, and we’ll keep everyone updated as guidance is released.
