The Moon has plans for Chris’s solar on Wednesday…
As the solar eclipse passes over the UK, the amount of sunlight reaching solar panels will temporarily fall - and so will solar generation.
But Chris has been busy!
Energy generated earlier can be stored in his home battery and used later, helping to power the house when solar generation drops and reducing reliance on the grid.
With electricity demand expected to be higher during the eclipse, households are also being encouraged to shift flexible electricity use away from 6–8pm where possible.
Chris? He saved some sunshine earlier.
Generate it. Store it. Use it when you need it.
Planning to watch? Never look directly at the Sun. Use suitable eclipse viewing glasses.
