Good news and Bad news!
Bad news, Summer is ending 😔
Good news, Cosy Candle Season is Coming!🕯️
Did you know: Around 45% of all annual UK candle sales happen between October–December, making Autumn the busiest period for candle buying!
In 2020, UK consumers spent £418m on scented candles, and the market has continued to grow since then. In fact, the candle industry is expected to grow at an annual growth rate of 9.4%.
So we thought we'd take a look at the Candle Trends coming in Winter 2026.
🍧 Creamy Gourmands
Gourmands have, without doubt, been the talk of the perfumery world in 2026. Fine fragrance has gone mad for them. Home fragrance is now ready to get in on the act. No surprises here that the likes of vanilla, pistachio and salted caramel will be dominating these fragrance directions. One trend we are predicting is inspired by the UK's favourite summer treat, Ice Cream. Vanilla paired with strawberry, chcocolate or honeycomb. Just because summer has left us doesn't mean summer scents should.
🌿 Going Green
Continuing the theme of summer blues, many of us will still be clinging to those fresh, spring and summer notes. So, as we close our doors on the winter weather, we will look for ways to bring the outside in. Think rosemary, herbs, moss, fig and fresh green notes. Fresh, herbaceous and earthy. There may, however, be some unexpected guests in the form of sumptuous savoury scents like tomato leaf, carrot and thyme.
✈️ Destination Unknown
Candles are a key part of setting the vibe or aesthetic for a room. We've recently written an article about scent-scaping and how people are aligning their room aesthetic to the scent in the room. As a result, we are seeing more and more requests from people wishing to recreate a scent built around a place, a time, or a feeling. Want to recreate a sun-drenched evening on the coast of Greece or the breathtaking scenery of the Alps? There's a candle scent for that.
🌿🌹Trees & Blooms — Warm, sophisticated scents have always been popular with candle makers and users alike. Cosy, luxurious and reassuring. Sandalwood, cedarwood, oud and vetiver continue to be popular, especially when blended with softer notes such as vanilla, amber, musk and bergamot. We are, however, seeing a shift towards more balanced combinations that feel warm, calming and modern. Think Sandalwood & Vanilla, Hinoki & Green Tea, Oud & Rose and Teakwood & Musk.
