***GIVE AWAY*** As part of our support for Red Sky Foundation, we have recently purchased a defibrillator which we would like to donate to a community in the north east. The charity support children and adults with heart conditions who need cardiac care.
More than 30,000 people experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK each year, yet defibrillators are currently used in fewer than 1 in 20 cases. A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any time, and without immediate intervention, survival chances decrease by up to 10% for every minute that passes without treatment.
However, when a defibrillator is used within the first 3–5 minutes, survival rates can increase dramatically — from less than 10% to as high as 50–70%.
This is why community defibrillators are so vital. Having accessible lifesaving equipment in local communities gives people the best possible chance of survival before paramedics arrive.
