Another busy month has gone by at Marsh Design. Thomas has been 'back to school', Zhila and Laura have been back in the office for their 'keeping in touch days.' We've had a staff training morning, and some of the team have been trying out new electric cars, trampolining, and badminton down at The Zone!! 🏫🚸👶💻🚘🤸🏸

Believe it or not we have done some engineering in and amongst too!

Take a look at some of our projects we are proud to be involved in so far this year. These projects include work on Grade II listed buildings, the conversion of an existing mill into 7 apartments, a balcony for a residential property and a barn conversion into 2 residential houses. 🏠 🏡

What's it really like transitioning from university to the engineering world? Here is an insight from our latest graduate engineer Juneid on putting theory into practice.

"A project that really highlighted my transition from university to industry was working on the structural design for a residential house extension project.

My role involved producing calculations and drawings for the structural steelwork required to support new roof openings, including beams, padstones and load transfers around the new rooflights.

Although university provided the foundations in structural analysis and Eurocode design, working on live projects has shown me the importance of understanding existing structures, constructability and coordination with architects, contractors and Building Control.

Seeing calculations develop into construction drawings that will be used on site has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey so far. Every project presents a different challenge, and each one is an opportunity to build both technical knowledge and practical engineering judgement.

I'm excited to continue developing as a structural engineer and applying what I learn to increasingly complex projects"
