☀️As the temperature rises, the woodworm emergence season begins. This season is typically between April and September each year. During this time, it is critical to undertake any treatments as adult beetles will exit the timbers to mate.

The two most common signs of infestations are the "flight holes" which appear when the beetles exit the timbers and the fine dust (frass) that is a mixture of chewed wood and larval droppings.

❓Why choose Maljon?
We provide professional, unbiased surveys conducted by our Property Care Association accredited surveyors. We use advanced tools such as thermal imaging and moisture mapping to find the root cause, not just the symptoms. Our timber treatments come with a 10-year guarantee, with additional insurance backed options for total peace of mind.

🏠Professional Dual-Purpose Treatments
Our advanced treatments provide a comprehensive shield for your home's structural and decorative woodwork. Our treatments include deep-penetrating insecticide that targets larvae and adult beetles, including the destructive Deathwatch Beetle and Common Furniture Beetle.

Our treatments also prevent decay as our powerful fungicide component protects against Wet and Dry Rot.

⏰Minimal Disruption
Our water-based, virtually odourless solution allows for a rapid 1-hour re-entry time. Formulated for deep pe*******on, treatments ensure that your timbers remain sound long after the first application.

❌The Problem with "Free" Surveys
In the damp industry, a "free" survey is often just a disguised sales pitch. Because these surveyors aren't paid for their time, they are under pressure to find problems that require expensive, often unnecessary chemical treatments—like damp-proof course (DPC) injections—to make the visit profitable.

🖥️Being Professional
At Maljon, we charge a professional fee for our surveys because our value lies in accurate diagnosis, not a sales quota. By paying for our time, you ensure an unbiased investigation using advanced tools like thermal imaging and moisture mapping to find the actual root cause of the issue, whether it’s a hidden leak, poor ventilation, or rising damp.

🏡Integrity in Remediation
While we are fully equipped to carry out remedial works, we only undertake what is strictly necessary. If the solution is a simple maintenance fix—such as clearing a blocked air brick or repairing a gutter—that is exactly what we will report. Our goal is to protect your property's structural integrity, not to inflate a quote with "ghost" repairs.

💵Long-Term Savings
A paid survey is a small upfront investment that can save you thousands in the long run. By identifying the correct issue the first time, you avoid the cost of "quick-fix" treatments that fail to work. You receive a transparent, evidence-based report that gives you—and your lender—total peace of mind.

It's the first day of ! As the weather now begins to cool down and the levels rise; usually gets worse in the colder winter months i.e. ‘the condensation season’.

1️⃣In the short-term you should wipe off the condensed water from windows and sills every morning during the condensation season. Wring out the cloth into a sink rather than drying out on a radiator.

2️⃣Maintaining a reasonable balance between , and can reduce excessive condensation.

3️⃣To reduce the risk of mildew on clothes and other stored items, allow air to circulate round them by removing ‘false’ wardrobe backs or drilling breather holes in them. You can place furniture on blocks to allow air to circulate beneath.

4️⃣Regular cleaning away of is vital. To remove mould, wipe down walls and window frames with a preparatory mouldicide or fungicidal wash (one which carries a Health and Safety Executive approval number). Spray containers of mouldicide can be obtained from chemists and retailers and mould kits can be obtained from specialist suppliers. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions precisely which will provide longer term prevention.
