Journey to Zero Complete!

A huge congratulations to our Managing Director, John Swallow, who completed the Journey to 0 cycling challenge ahead of Solar & Storage Live 2026!

John took on 150km over two days, cycling from Harpenden to Silverstone before completing the final stretch to the NEC Birmingham alongside the other participants.

An incredible achievement, all while raising funds and awareness for SolarAid and their work to bring clean, safe solar energy to communities across Africa.

A huge well done to John and everyone who took part, and thank you to the organisers and supporters who made the Journey to Zero possible.

Does Your Organisation Qualify for ESOS?

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for large UK organisations, designed to help businesses understand their energy use and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency.

An organisation will generally fall within the scope of ESOS if it meets either of the following criteria:

▪️ 250 or more employees
OR
▪️ An annual turnover exceeding £44 million AND an annual balance sheet total exceeding £38 million

However, qualification isn't limited to individual businesses. Corporate groups can also be affected if one UK member of the group meets the qualifying criteria, while overseas organisations with UK establishments and certain non-profit organisations may also fall within the scope of the scheme.

With the final Phase 3 Progress Update due by 5th December 2026 and the Phase 4 qualification date following on 31st December 2026, now is a good time for organisations to understand their position and prepare for the next phase of ESOS.

That’s why we’re pleased to have worked alongside iwell on our first project together, at a major UK fulfilment and logistics facility. The TEST team are supporting the successful installation and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of an intelligent Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Energy Management System (EMS).

The project demonstrates how our complementary expertise can work together seamlessly in practice. iwell’s advanced BESS and EMS technology provides intelligent energy management, while TEST’s independent engineering expertise and commissioning support helps ensure systems are installed, tested and commissioned safely and correctly.

Together, we’re helping organisations build smarter, more resilient energy infrastructure that can reduce costs, overcome grid constraints and support long-term decarbonisation.
