innergy Group Expands with Rent Free Gas Acquisition in Yorkshire

Founded by owner, Peter Gibbs, Rent Free Gas has grown to become one of North and West Yorkshire’s leading suppliers of rent-free welding gases, drinks dispense gases and LPG cylinders.

Gez Walsh, Managing Director of innergy Group, based in Leeds, said:

“Rent Free Gas, under Peter’s leadership, have built a wonderful reputation with their customers for exceptional service, a shared belief that has always been a priority for innergy. Peter is highly regarded within the industry by both his supply partners and his customers, and we are fully aware of how important it is that we maintain his high standards.

We also see fantastic growth opportunities through our expanded product range – welding equipment and consumables, drinks dispense gases and bottled LPG.”

On innergy Group’s growth ambitions, Walsh explained:

“We continue to actively look for suitable acquisitions within the bottled gas, beer gas and welding supplies industries. Many owners are looking to take advantage of the current favourable taxation environment, and we would love to discuss with company owners how we can put together an attractive package to help them realise full value for their hard built businesses whilst protecting their employees and maintaining the high quality service that their customers have come to rely upon.”

Peter Gibbs, owner of Rent Free Gas, said:

“After making my decision to retire I placed the sale with agents, Alan J Picken, and was surprised by the interest it received. However, it soon became apparent that future continuation for Rent Free Gas could be very difficult and problematic due to the nature of the interested parties.

When innergy Group enquired, it was a completely different scenario. Although my business operated in a different sector, Gez and his team understood the products and the market making the transition seamless.

I am very grateful to innergy who made this transaction as easy as possible and put together a package that met all of my requirements.”

The acquisition is the ninth for innergy, with depots currently in Leeds, York, Goole, Dewsbury, Knottingley and Manchester and more in the pipeline.
