A little less tax. Zero extra admin. ⚡

Good news - from 1 October 2026, VAT on domestic electricity will drop from 5% to 0%.

Outfox Energy customers will benefit automatically. There’s nothing to apply for and no need to call us, switch tariff, or change anything on your account. We’ll take care of it behind the scenes.

The government estimates an annualised saving of around £45 for a typical household on the Ofgem price cap. This is a guide, not a guaranteed amount; your actual saving will depend on your electricity use, tariff and how long the reduction applies.

One important detail: the VAT cut is for electricity only, not gas.

The July price cap is closing in fast, and waiting could cost you 👀
From 1 July, Ofgem’s price cap is rising by £221 on a like-for-like basis. If you’re currently on a standard variable tariff, now could be the time to check your options and lock in a fixed rate before the rise hits.

👉 Read our latest blog to see how switching now could help you save £250+ vs July’s price cap: https://outfox.energy/about/blog/energy-price-cap-jumps-221--switch-now-and-save-250-on-the-july-price-cap

Energy Quiz Answer ⚡️
Charging overnight at home

Shifting your charging routine to the night-time is the easiest way to lower your living costs. Here is how the options stack up for your wallet and the UK grid:

✅ Charging overnight at home: This is the best financial move. Charging during off-peak hours gives you access to ultra-low electricity rates, saving up to 70% on your energy bills while taking pressure off the grid.

❌ Precondition battery on grid: This is excellent for maximizing your driving range in winter. However, it pulls extra electricity from your home to warm the car, shifting when you use energy rather than reducing your bill.

❌ Charge to 100% daily: Capping your daily charge at 80% is a great habit, but it is designed to prevent battery wear over time. It does not directly impact your daily electricity expenses.

❌ Fast charge every time: Rapid commercial stations are perfect for road trips, but are much more expensive than home electricity. Relying on them daily will significantly increase your travel costs.

The winning strategy? Plug in overnight at home to keep your bills low, stay green, and support the grid! ⚡

Thinking a colder fridge means fresher food? Think again! 🦊❄️
Having your fridge colder than the recommended temperature won't keep your groceries fresher for longer, it will just increase your energy usage and your bills. As the weather warms up this May, your fridge naturally works harder. Check your settings today: the Food Standards Agency recommends keeping fridges at a maximum of 5°C and freezers at roughly -18°C. Give your dial a quick check today to keep your usage right where it should be! 📉

Fixed or Variable… which one suits your lifestyle better?

Choosing an energy tariff isn’t always straightforward - but understanding the difference can help you make a more informed decision 💡

👉 Fixed tariffs can offer more stability and protection from price rises
👉 Variable tariffs give you more flexibility and the chance to benefit if prices fall

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer - it all depends on what matters most to you 👀

Which would you choose? ⬇️

Spring cleaning tip: Don't forget your radiators! 🦊🧹
Now that the heating is switched off for the warmer months, May is the perfect time for a quick seasonal reset. While you're dusting and decluttering, grab a radiator key and bleed your radiators!
Releasing any trapped air now prevents rust from building up over the summer. It ensures your system stays healthy and runs efficiently the next time you need it. A little maintenance today saves you a headache later!
