𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲, 𝗜𝗚𝟳.
At UKRSTARS LTD, we were recently instructed to rectify a bathroom floor that had been incorrectly installed by previous contractors. The original floor tiles had been laid directly onto the subfloor without a suitable uncoupling membrane or proper floor preparation. As a result, the floor became uneven, and the tiles began to crack over time.
The client wanted a long-lasting solution while keeping costs under control and avoiding a complete bathroom renovation. Our challenge was to replace the damaged floor and upgrade selected fixtures whilst preserving as much of the existing installation as possible.
𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻:
✅ Careful removal of existing cracked floor tiles
✅ Inspection and preparation of the existing subfloor
✅ Installation of a professional uncoupling membrane system to prevent future tile movement and cracking
✅ Waterproofing and floor reinforcement works
✅ Application of self-levelling compound to create a perfectly flat and stable surface
✅ Installation of new porcelain floor tiles
✅ Supply and installation of a new shower enclosure whilst retaining the existing shower tray
✅ Removal and reinstallation of the existing WC to facilitate floor replacement
✅ Supply and installation of a new vanity unit
✅ Installation of a new basin mixer tap
✅ Installation of a new shower mixer tap
✅ Reinstatement, sealing and finishing works
✅ Professional cleaning and restoration of the existing shower tray using specialist uPVC cleaning products, bringing it back to an almost new appearance
𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵:
One of the key successes of this project was achieving a complete floor replacement without disturbing the existing wall tiles.
• Existing wall tiling
• Existing shower tray
• Existing WC
• Existing towel radiator
This significantly reduced labour costs, material costs and project duration whilst still delivering a fully refurbished and modernised bathroom floor.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁:
The completed bathroom now benefits from a properly prepared and reinforced tiled floor system designed to provide long-term durability and resistance to cracking. Combined with the upgraded shower enclosure, new vanity unit and modern fittings, the bathroom has been transformed without the expense of a full strip-out renovation.
This project is an excellent example of how targeted refurbishment works can deliver outstanding results while maximising value for the homeowner.
