Today is World Wildlife Day 🌍🦋 We wanted to share how we protect wildlife and boost biodiversity at our generation sites!

At Ecotricity, we go beyond just minimising impact, we aim for a positive one. At our sun parks, we create species-rich grasslands for bees, butterflies and insects. We also create wildlife corridors with flowering hedgerows and animal-friendly fencing for badgers, hares and rabbits. We also avoid using artificial fertilisers and pesticides.

This morning we teamed up with Forest Green Rovers Football Club for a litter pick! 🚮⚽

We put on our hi-vis jackets, grabbed our pickers and got to work along the canal. Although it looked clean at first glance, we found plenty of hidden plastic bags and wrappers tucked away in the bushes - the kind of litter that can sadly harm wildlife who mistake it for food.

Just like scoring goals on the pitch, Forest Green Rovers Football Club are scoring green goals off it too - protecting nature, cutting waste and championing our planet is something that's important to us both. Nature is a big part of Ecotricity's pillars and our mission to build a cleaner greener planet 🌍

It’s frustrating, isn’t it? You’ve just finished your 9–5 and finally have time to sort things out… but the company you need to call also works 9–5

At Ecotricity, we think it should be easier to get hold of us

📞 We’re open 9am–7pm on weekdays and 9am–5pm on weekends - including Sunday, when a lot of other energy companies aren’t even open at all.

Today is International Day of Zero Waste! This year’s theme is food waste 🥖🍎

In the UK, food waste is responsible for an estimated 8–10% of total greenhouse gas emissions 😮Globally, around a third of all food produced is wasted and if food waste were a country, it would be one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in the world.

Wasting food also means wasting all the energy, water and resources used to produce it 💡

Here at Ecotricity, we’re doing our bit in the canteen by cutting down on food waste and making more sustainable choices every day. Small changes really do add up 💚
