Gradica Building Contractors are looking for an experienced Site Manager on a freelance basis to oversee a high-end residential project in St John’s Wood for a 28-week duration. You will have good experience in underpinning works, structural alterations, refurbishment, fit-out and associated external works. In return we offer a day rate of £200-£210 dependent on skills and experience.
Role
To undertake the day-to-day management of construction activities of a designated project in order to maximise the company’s profitability and client satisfaction whilst ensuring programme, Health and Safety and Quality Control are upheld to the highest of standards at all times.
To assist the Construction Director and Senior Quantity Surveyor with pre-start details and attend pre-start meetings with the client as necessary to ensure smooth site set up and full knowledge of the project to manage it through to completion.
To issue weekly and monthly site progress reports internally and to the client to monitor progress against the master programme.
Ensuring all site attendees (direct employees and subcontractors) work in line with Health & Safety procedures / initiatives

Have an understanding of the JCT Standard Form of Intermediate Building Contract with contractor’s design 2016 Edition, and the key project stakeholders e.g. client, client’s representatives, design team etc.
Have a full understanding of the scope of works for each sub-contractor package
Liaise with the Architect and Gradica SQS on works not deemed to be included within the scope of works for the project.
Issue permits for various work activities, and close out accordingly.
Have the ability to undertake material/equipment orders, and liaise with the Senior Quantity surveyor.
Raise non-conformity report for works undertaken that are sub-standard
Ensure that sub-contractors compile and issue inspection and test plans for various works packages, and that these are checked and closed out accordingly.
Compile snagging lists and manage the process for closing out the works
Understand the duties and responsibilities with regards to current Health and Safety/CDM legislation, and the responsibilities of other parties, and ensure compliance on the project.
Undertake the role of temporary works coordinator (where applicable).
Ensure labour only sub-contractors have been properly assessed for the tasks they are undertaken and that method statements and risk assessments are in place for them.
Qualifications - CSCS/CSR card, SMSTS qualified, First Aid at Work, Professional qualification (Construction Management)
