Take a look around our depot site where the team have recently completed the renewal of the depot goods shed. Our brief was to redevelop the existing asbestos clad train shed into a purpose-built storage unit. The existing shed was demolished, which included the removal of foundations, with a modernised replica of the build constructed in its place.

Works are now complete on site in Ipswich for Network Rail where we have undertaken the design and fit-out of an Occupational Health and Wellbeing Centre. The project has involved the renewal of the entire ground floor level to create the new facility including clinical rooms, an audio room, toilets, a welfare / breakout area and a separate reception and waiting area.

We are currently seeking an Estimator to join our successful Pre-Construction Team, based at our offices close to Paddington Station.

The role would suit someone with a strong estimating background, having previously worked in a fast paced, forward planning and high autonomy team. Projects the team work on range from £100k to £15million and are in the transportation, healthcare and general commercial property refurbishment sectors. You would also have the experience of dealing with multiple tenders at any one time.

Spence’s façade restoration works at MacMillan House, Paddington have been short-listed for a . The project consisted of the rejuvenation of a neglected part of the historically important Paddington Station, designed by Brunel in 1854.

Judges noted the high quality of the restoration works, particularly the craftsmanship used to rectify damages and modifications to the original historic elements. The attention to detail was also picked up on, with judges praising the overdoor Royal Waiting Room panel for its use of Royal Blue, Balmoral Red and GWR green.

The judges commented:

‘The resultant high-quality works are the result of an enthusiastic and conscientious project management team and their appointed contractor, and great care was taken to match and continue the quality of all recent work to this Grade 1 listed station whilst also setting a precedent for future work to the station buildings.’

We are pleased to announce that our surveillance audit undertaken last week was a great success. The audit aims to determine whether the requirements of the management standards are effectively addressed by our own management system in order to maintain our ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.

The audit report identified our Worksafe Policy, Tender Management Procedure, campaigns and initiatives and our Core Values all as good practice.
