Project Progress Update – Aim for the Skies! 🏗️
We are pleased to share the steady progress achieved so far at our St Helens Bus Interchange project.

As the complexity of the works continues to grow, so does the need for precision, coordination, and teamwork at every level.

When your installation starts from 8 metres above floor level, success depends on far more than just good hands on site. It means synchronising access, lifting equipment, materials, labour, and programme requirements — all while working in harmony with other trades operating in the same busy environment. It is a constant balancing act, and one that only works when every part of the team is fully engaged.

At this stage, we feel it is important to pause and recognise the people and companies working behind the scenes to make progress possible, so we can take a deep breath to regain our strength and remain focused on what’s still to come.

A sincere thank you goes to Orhan Keleshev, our site supervisor, who often stays on site after the team of fitters leaves to ensure all critical equipment is put on charge, the next day's activities can commence on time, and all glass panels on stillages are secured. The thankful list goes on with our fitters, logistics and lifting personnel, who keep wearing their hard hats and help with the good work progress in the ever-challenging weather conditions this early summer has brought in St Helens.

Behind every project of this nature, there’s also a wide network of people to extend our gratitude to — designers, procurement teams, senior management, finance, glass manufacturers, haulage and logistics partners working day in, day out alongside Vinci’s site logistics and management teams. Every one of them contributes knowledge, effort, and commitment to keeping the project progressing safely and effectively.
We all understand there are no small roles in a project of this scale. Every contribution matters.

10k words will not be able to describe our pride and accomplishment feelings better than the project photo gallery we are inviting you to browse below: https://onfacades.co.uk/project/st-helens-bus-interchange-glass-canopies

Last but not least, I extend my appreciation to Novum Structures for going the extra mile in prioritising safety and offering us the chance to work with the most innovative tools available in the market.

This is no small feat, especially when nowadays fewer and fewer facade contractors fear taking the leap of faith in staying in the tier-one range of professional ex*****on of their works and prioritise less the means of delivering a project to stay competitive in a smaller and smaller budget range and relevance.

As part of our company's tradition, we like to present our followers and the wider audience with the journey we take to undertake and complete challenging projects.

Over the last few weeks at our Bus Interchange Station in St Helens, we completed the installation of the clerestory glazing channels and the installation of the ECG bracketry for both North and South canopies. We are now lining and levelling them and installing the clerestory glazing panels while aiming to maintain adequate space between various teams and trades to ensure a safe working environment for everyone involved in this project.

We are extremely pleased with the progress, especially as 90% of the installation workforce is local to St Helens. We wanted to give the skilled local operatives a chance to be part of revitalising their own town centre area, a chance to be proud of something unique, crafted with their own hands and of which to speak for years to come.
We often encounter people on the street asking us questions about the project, and we cannot miss the sparkling glimpse of pride in the eyes of our local team members while talking through and explaining the project specifics.

Over the past few years, since we've taken the faith of leap to undertake projects Nationwide our organisation has steadily grown into a trusted employer and managed to get more and more positive engagements from local Facade Installing Specialists.

We can mention a few successful projects where we met wonderful people and built relations to last for years to come: Birmingham Snowhill 3 and Boat Blocks, Bournemouth AFC and Hospital projects, Wi******er University, Oxford JRH Hospital, Bristol TQEC University and Hengrove Bookends and Manchester Trafford Palazzo.

Periodic Maintenance of Floor Cranes Is Critical for Safe and Efficient Operations

Some may view floor cranes as old-fashioned or even obsolete in today’s lifting landscape. We take a different view — these machines still have an important role to play in modern construction, thanks to their compact design, versatility, and adaptability in restricted environments.

Like any lifting equipment, their reliability depends on one key factor: regular and thorough maintenance. Keeping them in optimal condition is essential for safe lifting operations, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

Last week, we dedicated time to carry out a comprehensive inspection and maintenance check on our SLK 25 floor crane, followed by a controlled stress test exceeding 700kg, performed in a tandem lift alongside our Glassboy 500 and the TR30 Minifor.
✔️ Equipment checked
✔️ Performance validated
✔️ Confidence reinforced for upcoming projects

Safe to say — the exercise was as valuable as it was enjoyable, and it gives us full confidence that our future lifting operations will run smoothly and safely.

Curious to see how the test went and why maintenance matters more than ever?

Project Launch – St Helens Interchange 🏗️✨
We’re excited to announce the commencement of our latest architectural glazing project in St Helens, supporting the council’s vision to revitalise and enhance the commuting experience for the residents.

The new interchange will feature two fully enclosed concourses, creating spacious, sheltered, and user-friendly waiting areas for the public — a significant upgrade to the local transport infrastructure.
Our Scope of Works Includes:
- Glazing of the canopy structures
- Installation of the clerestory glazing system
- Delivery of the feature cladding soffit system

From early-stage engagement, we closely tracked the project to identify key risks, optimal access strategies, and installation sequencing. This allowed us to develop a robust Safe System of Work (SSOW), ensuring our teams can operate safely while maintaining programme efficiency.

Mobilisation is now well underway, with the first set of MEWPs, Forklift, and the first batch of materials already delivered. We’re looking forward to welcoming our installation teams on-site this week as we complete the final setup.

We would also like to extend our thanks to our valued client Novum Structures, for the opportunity to be part of this outstanding development.
