Over the last 2 weeks, we swapped the hand suckers and glazing paddles with clamps and long straight edges to progress with our next set of works: the installation of the cladding package that comprises Copings, Fascias and Soffits aluminium panels.

Of course, all cladding system is sloped, curved and 10m above ground level, and the sunlight makes the use of lasers just.... redundant - what would one expect on a canopy meant to suit the docking of double decking busses:)

We just put our big boy pants on, and... here I share the result with you in a few pics where the "connoisseurs" can acknowledge our hard work and level of craftsmanship.

As always, a special thank you goes to our trusted client Novum Structures UK, for putting their confidence in us and giving us the opportunity to be part of this amazing project. Your support, coordination and willingness to work with us through the practical challenges on site have been instrumental in helping our team deliver the works to the standard we aim for.

I'm after a single ply welder team who can assist with a quick turnaround for a couple of days at our St Helens project, WA10 1DS. We have some gutter joints to seal and looking to get them sorted asap with someone that has its own heat welding torch, CSCS and IPAF training req as access will be from MEWPs.
Staight forwards payment terms offered at the end of the week, since this is a short term job.

After delivering more than 60 facade and glazing projects across the UK, people often ask us how we manage to keep multiple teams performing on projects hundreds of miles apart.
The honest answer is... not about having the perfect men, programmes or flawless drawings.
It's about leadership.

Totally overwhelmed by emotions today with lots of friends, family, work coleagues and Facebook followers wishing me all the best on my birthday.
Before I can answer each of you, while still being busy at work, I thought of sending a warm reply in due time to thank everyone out there for the kind wishes and their thoughts.
As a director its my job to be tought some times, but I must do something right to deserve such a nice surprise cake from my employees - fair play to them, it has been much appreciated... and of course shared with everyone :)))

Working Safely in the Heat – Looking after the team behind the glass ☀️🥤
The UK may not be famous for extreme temperatures. Still, anyone working on glazing and facade installations knows that glass, aluminium, steel and dark roof surfaces can quickly turn a warm summer's day into a physically demanding working environment. Add the hottest week on record, and you get a dangerous mix for managing high-risk activities.

Large glazing and aluminium panels reflect and amplify heat, while wearing PPE, harnesses and carrying out manual handling tasks at height adds another layer of fatigue. Reduced concentration doesn't just affect productivity - it can increase the risk of incidents during lifting operations and glass installation.

At ON FACADES, we believe that taking care of our workforce is just as important as ensuring the quality of our installations. A few simple measures implemented this week made a significant difference, kept morale positive amongst our teams and work progressing at our St Helens, Bus Interchange project:
✅ Moved the start of our working programme earlier by 30 mins, as well as reducing the overall working programme by an hour.
✅ Free break schedule for regular hydration periods when teams begin feeling thirsty.
✅ Rotate physically demanding activities between team members.
✅ Occasional Ice cream treats at break time.
✅ Continuously monitor operatives for signs of heat stress or fatigue.

Despite all the planning and precautions, this week's heatwave reminded us that some challenges simply can't be eliminated – we can merely manage them to some extent. Working long hours in elevated temperatures while handling large architectural glass demands not only technical skill but also resilience, professionalism and teamwork.
A huge thank you to our site teams for their commitment, hard work and positive attitude throughout the week. Your dedication to maintaining high standards of safety and quality, even in demanding conditions, is something we are incredibly proud of.

Here's hoping for slightly cooler days ahead - but whatever the weather brings, we'll continue looking after our people first, because they remain our greatest asset.

New toys on site, more fun on our next challenge

This week, we welcomed to our site at St Helens two Lorry Mounted Cranes to assist with the glazing of the Canopies. Along with our Kappel DSKEB2 Vacuum lifter fully specced with a tilt stabiliser, reverse pump function and wireless remote control, we can only ask for the next 280Kg glass unit to come and safely rest on its final glazing position :)
