'Starting Well - Creating the capacity to change' takes place this Friday, 8 May (12-1pm, Zoom), and is the first in our series The Capacity Lab with Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS).

The series has been designed specifically for leaders who are gearing up to deliver more digitally enabled care in people's homes.

It will cover navigating the tension between diligent planning and just getting started, setting a clear plan in line with your strategy, as well as making the business case for change before you've got all the evidence.

Our panellists:
- Jon Wilson, Director of Adults and Communities at Leicestershire County Council
- Dave Macfarlane, Consultant at Triple Value Impact and former Transformation and Digital Lead for Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead
- James Sinclair, Chief Operations Officer, Care City
- Kelly Hudson, CEO, Lilli
- Sally Burlington (chair), Chief Executive, Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS)

The new model for health and care promises to be proactive, with as much care as possible delivered in people’s homes, supported by digital and data. The ambition is to deliver earlier interventions to support people to live more independently, and to help people to meet their aspirations within their own communities.

But the pressure on adult social care isn't easing. The question is: how can Directors create space to implement technologies to enable proactive care?

The Capacity Lab is a series of three interactive sessions from Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) and Lilli for Directors of Adult Social Services and their senior teams — bringing together peers and other sector experts to share what's working, and give you tools you can use immediately.

Please register early as spaces are limited.

Caring is often a shared responsibility between siblings or other family members.

That's why we made sure the full circle of support can access Lilli - so everyone involved has the same information about their loved one's every day routines, and can spot any unusual changes.

For Erik, that means he can go on holiday with much-needed peace of mind that the rest of his family is in the loop šŸ

Most people don’t want to go into residential care.
They want to stay home, in familiar surroundings, with a sense of independence.

Lilli helps make that possible - quietly supporting people with technology that learns their routines and spots subtle signs of change. No wearables, mics, or cameras - just unobtrusive, behind-the-scenes sensor-based tech that supports:
- Early intervention
- Independent living
- Family peace of mind

It’s not just about avoiding crisis - it’s about giving people more time where they want to be, and giving families peace of mind that they’re safe at home.

The latest figures highlighted by The King’s Fund show encouraging progress in reducing NHS waiting lists, made possible by the tireless work of staff across the system.

But sustained improvement can’t rely on workforce effort alone. As demand continues to grow, care teams need support from better insight and earlier visibility, to be able to support people safely at home and reduce avoidable escalation.

Proactive technology has an important role to play, giving professionals the confidence to act sooner, reduce waitlists and ease pressure on services, and deliver more personalised, preventative care.

Getting the waiting list down to the lowest level in nearly three years is a credit to preparation by NHS leaders and the tireless work of staff says Sarah Woolnough, Chief Executive of The King's Fund.

Care teams are already overstretched and overworked in understaffed care homes. Lilli’s discreet falls sensor allows carers to be there when they’re not - supporting them through instant alerts, reducing unnecessary room checks.

āœ“ 24/7 proactive falls monitoring
āœ“ No need for wearables
āœ“ Immediate alerts upon a fall

It’s the layer of support needed to enhance safety and protect dignity - while helping staff focus where they’re needed most.

šŸš€ The System-Wide Opportunity for Transformation

By deploying proactive technology in the home, local authorities can reduce preventable hospital admissions, improve independence and free up capacity across health and care.

If deployed nationally, it could save £4bn for the social care system and the NHS over the next 10 years.

The report demonstrates how taking a preventative, data-led approach creates measurable benefits well beyond social care alone.
