September 17 is the birthday of one of the most prominent scientists in history Konstantin Tsiolkovsky👨‍🎓 What was the life of a Russian autodidact scientist, who wrote over 400 papers on rocket science, who studied technologies for obtaining solar energy and energy of sea tides, condensation of water vapour, air conditioning of premises, development of deserts, and even thinking about high-speed trains?

🔹He was from a large impoverished noble family.
🔹He learned to read at the age of 7.
🔹As a child, he had scarlet fever, which is why he was almost completely deaf and it greatly impeded schooling and socialising with peers.
🔹At the age of 11, he began making his first mechanical models.
🔹Due to poor progress in Greek, Latin, Russian, German, he was kept in the same grade at the grammar school for the second year, and later was expelled.
🔹He was a self-taught genius in arithmetic, geometry, physics.
🔹At the age of 16, Konstantin independently assembled a lathe.
🔹Once he developed the kinetic theory of gases, after which he found out that it had already been discovered 25 years earlier.
🔹He wrote several science fiction books. One of them, titled "On the Moon", was the first book about a man on another planet. Later, most of Tsiolkovsky's guesses about the Moon and its atmosphere got supported by scientific evidence.
🔹It was him who came up with the idea of launching a rocket with an inclined rail, which is now successfully used in multiple rocket launchers.

Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was a man who sincerely believed in the need to explore outer space and was never able to come to terms with the impossibility of moving faster than the sun, denying Einstein's formula of relativity.

«The Earth is the cradle of humanity, but mankind cannot stay in the cradle forever.» After all, «What is impossible today will be possible tomorrow.» K.E. 🚀

NASA DRONE HELICOPTER makes its first test flight on Mars

The Ingenuity helicopter climbed to a height of about 3 m: its maiden flight lasted about 20 seconds.

During the flight of the drone, the Perseverance rover transmitted images and data received by the helicopter to Earth.

His mission is to understand the potential of rotorcraft beyond Earth за

In the course of subsequent flights, the helicopter is planned to be raised to 5 m. Ingenuity is expected to operate for 31 days. During flights to Mars, he will produce aerial photographs of the area.

This structure is the frame and base for the European Service Module, part of NASA’s Orion spacecraft that will return humans to the Moon.

Built in Turin, Italy, at Thales Alenia Space, this is the third such structure to roll out of production. However, this one is extra special, as it will fly the first woman and next man to land on the Moon and return on the Artemis III mission by 2024.

The structure is nearly complete and acts as a backbone to the Orion spacecraft, providing rigidity during launch.

Much like a car chassis, this structure forms the basis for all further assembly of the spacecraft, including 11 km of wiring, 33 engines, four tanks to hold over 8000 litres of fuel, enough water and air to keep four astronauts alive for 20 days in space and the seven-metre ‘x-wing’ solar arrays that provide enough electricity to power two households.

Orion’s backbone will travel to the Airbus integration hall in Bremen, Germany, at the end of the month to integrate all the elements listed above and more. This third European Service Module will join the second in the series that is already in Bremen, and nearing completion, to be sent to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center next year.

The first service module is already finished and will be integrated with the Crew Module and rocket adapters to sit atop the Space Launch Systems rocket. The first completed Orion craft is scheduled for a launch and fly-by around the Moon, without astronauts, next year on the first Artemis mission.

The countdown to the Moon starts in Europe with 16 companies in ten countries supplying the components that make up humankind’s next generation spacecraft for exploration.
