We use certified Smokeless Coal. The Surbiton Community Forge was set up at the beginning of 2023 by four volunteers, William (who's vision created this initiative), Nick, Emma and Ian. The aim of the Forge is to promote a dying craft and to allow the loc

al community to experience basic blacksmithing. We are self-funded and we have had to make or source all of the tools and equipment we use, which is a slow process. We hope soon to be able to offer experience days and to sell some of the items that we make on-line and at local farmers' markets.

A nice day of maintenance at the Forge today. A few weeks ago a nice man donated this metal cutting band saw. A bit of a clean, oil and grease. I also made a base for it and added a couple of locking wheels. The base is quite built up as i wanted to raise the saw to more of a sensible working height. Cuts through metal like butter.
