In October 1971, the Post Office Tower was damaged in an alleged IRA bomb plot.
Within hours, our team was on site constructing an access rig. When firefighters were unable to enter the building, Coventry cradle operative Benny Watts stepped forward to remove the twisted metal debris himself.
For his bravery, he was later awarded the BEM.
