On the 7th of February, team leader Ismail gave a talk with architect Stefanie Chaltiel as part of the Bartlett's spring lecture series ‘Constructing Realities’. The talk discussed how drones can be used to spray earth materials to create shelters.
Often, where these shelters are constructed there is little access to electricity to charge electric drones. However, there is usually some fuel source, whether that be JetA1 from incoming aircraft, diesel from abandoned cars and trucks or kerosene which is often used for heating and cooling in developing countries. We at Team Nova aim to build a drone that can harness the energy in these fuels using a fuel flexible micro jet engine. Therefore, making it possible to employ technologies being developed by architects such as Stephanie in these environments. The talk engaged many students and opened conversations into the roles of both architects and engineers in the creation of tomorrow’s world.
