Did you know WPP is the world's largest advertising and marketing services group?

It's no surprise that they want to stand out with a state-of-the-art headquarters as well.

Our plant logistics team recently had the pleasure of delivering a generator enclosure to WPP’s new headquarters on the Southbank. This included the base, generator, enclosure, and the accompanying attenuators. Despite the tight conditions, the team successfully completed all five lifts without issue.

We have delivered 3 other projects within just 100m of this site in the past few years.
Is it fair to say we’re the premier MEP service for Southbank?

Work experience is a pointless exercise if you fail to provide real, relevant value.

Our marketing team was fortunate to welcome Edie Robinson for work experience this summer ahead of starting college this autumn.

Here are three things the team did to give her a meaningful and enjoyable experience:

1️⃣ Assigned her real-world tasks.
Edie wasn't just given busy work. She reviewed a marketing proposal, planned, captured, and edited a TikTok video from Battersea Power Station. This gave her a chance to learn about different aspects of marketing and demonstrates the teams true value of her opinion.

2️⃣ Mentored her and helped her learn new skills.
The team didn't just leave Edie to her own devices. They were always available to answer her questions and provide constructive feedback on her work.

3️⃣ Created a positive and welcoming environment.
The team wanted Edie to feel welcome and a valued member of the team. They went to lunch and took the time to get to know her. This helped create a comfortable working environment.

Edie herself thanked the team for "such an enjoyable experience", finding it very interesting, and plans to pursue a career in marketing and media after she finishes her studies.

We wish Edie the best of luck with her A-levels and in her future career!

Structure Tone recently hosted its annual Charity Sportive at the picturesque Wormsley Estate in High Wycombe, and we were proud to be one of the headline sponsors.

Several members of our team ventured out to get their walk and pedal on. It was a great day out in the Chiltern Hills, with a fantastic pizza & beer to celebrate at the finish line. More importantly, it was an opportunity to support Demelza Charity a, a charity that delivers extraordinary care to extraordinary children facing serious or life-limiting conditions in Kent, Southeast London, and East Sussex.

We are saving 10% on the whole projects carbon emissions at Great Portland Estates, Minerva House project.

Here 4 major wins we are incorporating that M&E providers must do to reduce carbon emissions:

1. Pre-insulated ductwork with lower emissions than metal ducts.

2. Pre-insulated ductwork minimises on-site wastage.

3. Flat-packed ductwork, resulting in fewer deliveries.

4. Eco-Friendly refrigerants such as R32 Hybrid.

Delivering 'BREEAM Excellent' projects is becoming second nature to us.

Construction has kicked off at Woolgate Exchange with Mace Group and Stanhope.

Designed by Stiff + Trevillion, this project has some ambitious goals:
• Net zero carbon in construction and operation.
• Retaining 98% of the original structure.
• 4.5-star NABERS rating and 'BREEAM Excellent certification

5 ways we're doing our part to minimise environmental impact:
• Using Pre-fabrication where possible
• Picking eco-friendly materials
• Making less waste and Recycling More
• Life Cycle Assessment and Design
• Optimising HVAC systems

We celebrate sustainable engineering solutions of any kind.

This may not be building services, it is a huge engineering feat worth a celebration.

Engineers at BAR and Yaramarine Technologies are trialling 123ft fibreglass aerofoils, making the world's first wind-powered freighter voyage.

The system can reduce the ship's fuel use by around 30pc, "helping to decarbonize the shipping industry without having to scrap existing vessels."

Retrofit solutions like the fibreglass aerofoils are advantageous for combatting climate change.

Instead of creating a completely new system, you adapt what's already there.

You use fewer resources and there's minimal waste, as you aren't throwing everything out for new systems.

Upgrading existing systems reaps huge benefits when assessing the embodied carbon of existing buildings. Sustainable solutions will need to be implemented across all buildings in the UK. We can’t knock down and rebuild everything, but you can upgrade existing portfolios with sustainable solutions.

Air and ground source heat pumps do much the same for buildings as aerofoils do for freighters. They can integrate into an existing system, replacing gas boilers and providing the necessary heating and cooling. That being said, much like the sails, this isn't a one size fits all solution; careful consideration must be taken to ensure the system is suitable and efficient.

Realistic and thought-out sustainable engineering solutions are a key factor in combatting climate change.

Inventors hope maiden voyage will help usher in new era of greener shipping.

Most people know him as a Senior Site Manager, but Rob Buchan is also a lifesaver.

Rob has been volunteering with the RNLI for over a year. We had the fortune of spending the day with him. Here is what we learned from the day:
