This week, we were proud to join pupils from schools across Trowbridge, Wiltshire Council, and project partners to mark a special milestone at the new Trowbridge Leisure Centre construction site.
Together, we buried a time capsule filled with letters, drawings, photographs, memories, and reflections that capture life in 2026 for future generations. As construction partner, Pellikaan also contributed building materials to provide a glimpse into how this exciting community facility was built.
The event gave pupils a unique opportunity to explore the site and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the future leisure centre, including the swimming pool areas currently under construction.
"It was really exciting to see the building site and imagine what it will look like when it’s finished. The swimming pool area was my favourite part," said a Year 6 pupil who took part in the event.
Cllr Mel Jacob, Cabinet Member for Communities, Engagement and Corporate Services at Wiltshire Council, added: “The time capsule captures a snapshot of life today – from what matters to our communities to the creativity of our young people. By the time it is opened in 2056, the pupils involved today will be adults, and it’s wonderful to think their contributions will still be part of this site’s story.”
The time capsule will remain buried until at least 2056, preserving a snapshot of today’s community and creating a lasting connection between the people of Trowbridge and this new facility.
We are proud to help deliver a modern leisure centre that will support health, wellbeing, and community life for generations to come.
