Not every project ends well.
Especially in the residential sector where people put loads of emotions into their houses.
It’s also a space where “ego” gets a whole new meaning.
A few years back I was on the contractor's side. We were working on a project in Notting Hill that had a fantastic architect. He had done an amazing job designing this house. He had failed miserably managing the works.
The client thought she could manage everything herself. Which would be fine if she had any understanding of the process or her contractual rights and obligations. Instead she was trying to bully everyone into the corner titled ‘I am right’.
Not hard to predict that it ended in adjudication. Three to be exact. Without disclosing too much I can say that I floored me.
It was the first time in my life when I experienced someone being offensive just because they can and fight for the sake of not admitting that they were wrong.
I learned a lot in that process. I know what went wrong. I know how to avoid such a situation again. But I also learned to stay away from toxic clients because whatever you do they will never appreciate it.
So if you want only advice that will prove you right, know better and want to only be assured in this - do not message me.
