The sun does far more than generate electricity.
That's one of the things Infinity Renewables loves most about the six-acre permaculture farm we're supporting in North Yorkshire.
Solar panels convert sunlight into clean energy. But that same sunshine also powers wildlife, grows food and sometimes drys things out too much!
Working together, the project partners are creating something far greater than the sum of its parts.
Solar energy supports the off-grid infrastructure.
One partners automated pump station uses that power to irrigate the site from the lake, generously created with support from Dechra.
Young fruit trees, berries and food crops are flourishing.
Our "honey factories" are thriving too, with one hive already growing so quickly that it has needed a second super to give the bees more room to store honey.
The pollinators are certainly making the most of it. The planted thistles, chosen specifically to support wildlife, are now covered with Bumble Bees, Honey Bees, Peacock butterflies, Gatekeepers and Painted Ladies, while the surrounding habitat continues to attract an ever-growing variety of insects.
Every flower visited helps pollinate crops, strengthens local ecosystems and supports the food we hope to produce for years to come.
Infinity Renewables is proud to be supporting a project where renewable energy delivers benefits far beyond electricity generation, helping create a resilient, productive landscape that works with nature rather than against it.
We're looking forward to welcoming the Infinity Renewables team, alongside our other fantastic partners, to the farm in September to see just how much has been achieved together.
