A Chinese steel producer has tasked Primetals Technologies with a comprehensive upgrade of its 5-strand bloom caster in eastern China. ๐Ÿ“… Start-up is planned for the end of 2026.

๐Ÿ“ˆ The new withdrawal straightening unit (WSU) will provide 200 tons of reduction force per pinch roll โ€“ up from 130 tons. This substantial increase will improve internal strand containment and significantly enhance product quality.

โš™๏ธ The number of pinch rolls will be raised from nine to eleven, reducing the roller pitch between pinch rolls. The result:

๐Ÿ”น Higher soft reduction accuracy
๐Ÿ”น Improved internal bloom quality

๐Ÿค VinMetal, the steel manufacturing arm of Vingroup, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership with Primetals Technologies. The agreement focuses on the creation of a major greenfield investment in a large-scale integrated steel plant complex in Ha Tinh, Vietnam. This facility will produce both long and flat steel products through two production lines.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œThe partnership with Primetals Technologies โ€“ a world-leading partner in the field of metallurgical technology integration โ€“ is a significant milestone in VinMetalโ€™s long-term development strategy. We aim to build a large-scale, modern, and digitalized steel complex that meets the highest international standards, enhancing the competitiveness and position of Vietnamโ€™s steel industry on the global industrial map,โ€ stated Mr. Pham Nhat Quan Anh, General Director of VinMetal, during the MoU ceremony.
