Hyris is actively following the humanitarian crisis caused by Russian invasion of Ukraine started on February 24th. We have colleagues, friends and business partners in Ukraine. Since the beginning, we tried to actively help our colleagues and friends’ families to reach a safe place outside of Kiev. And, in case possible, outside of Ukraine.

Together with our network, we also wanted to further help as many women, children, and elder people as possible.
We need your contribution.

Our initial priority is to find a stable solution for the next period for families who already crossed the border. Therefore, as first step of our commitment, we are managing the transfer from the border to Liepajia (Latvia), where we will manage accommodations and housing in a country where they can easily communicate, even if not English speaking. For each family we will pay for the housing for the next six months, also providing emergency relief items including food, medicines, clothes.

The first families already got to Liepaja. We need your contribution to help more families and make greater impact.

Our second priority is related to the diabetes emergency in Ukraine, for which we want to contribute supplying insulin, as one of the most needed item right now. We are evaluating different solution and choosing the most impactful one soon.

As a key part of a long-term strategy to fight COVID-19, Hyris supports Immunology Research. On December 17th, 2021, Hyris presented its new test to detect the body's T Cell immune response to SARS-CoV-2 at “A-WISH” Symposium, which addressed strategies for the COVID-19 response and the development of the vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.
“We knew that we had to put our knowledge at the service of vaccination campaigns even further, leveraging the versatility of our AI platform to deliver a new kind of immunology test," says Stefano Lo Priore, Founder and CEO at Hyris.
"Until now, antibody testing has been considered the only tool to measure immunity to SARS-CoV-2," explains Isabella Della Noce, Chief Biologist at Hyris, "but individuals exposed to the virus or vaccinated do not necessarily develop or maintain antibody positivity. That is why we need to focus on T-Cells as they act together with antibodies to prevent pathogen spread and remove virus-infected cells. An individual negative to an antibody test could still be immune, thanks to responsive T-Cells. Therefore, measuring T-Cells response is a new disruptive approach to fight SARS-CoV-2."
This new test workflow has been already adopted by international research projects and committees, such as VACCELERATE, the European Program for the acceleration of phase 2 & 3 COVID-19 vaccine trials and the creation of a pan-European platform for clinical trial design and conduct, and the Spanish governmental Project Ene-Covid, the "Estudio Nacional de sero-Epidemiología de la Infección por SARS-CoV-2 en España".
Organized by the Spanish Society of Immunology (SEI) and the University of Alicante (UA), the "A-WISH" Symposium promotes the advancement of the study of immunology, infectious diseases and vaccinology as well as Life and Health Sciences. This first edition specifically aimed to address strategies for the COVID-19 response and pandemic preparedness, the development of the vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 and the immunological response to infection and different COVID-19 vaccines.
The 2021 "A-WISH" Symposium brought together a group of internationally recognized immunologists, microbiologists, molecular biologists, epidemiologists, virologists and professionals from a wide range of disciplines in the biomedical field to present and discuss the most recent results of top-tier immunology scientific research and innovations. Hyris took part in the discussion, aiming to accelerate the development of new approaches to disease prevention.

Hyris new Test can quickly detect the body's T Cell immune response to SARS-CoV-2.

Hyris developed a rapid T-Cell test, which leverages the power of the Hyris SystemTM to track patients' immunity levels to SARS-CoV-2 for global clinical use. The new test has been brought to market after having inked an exclusive licensing agreement with Singapore Duke-NUS Medical School.

After almost two years of fight against COVID-19, governments, NGOs, and corporations are now focusing on strategies and solutions to boost population immunity and move onto the next phase – possibly out of the pandemic.

The T-Cell clinical test kit has been brought worldwide through an exclusive licensing agreement between Hyris and Duke-NUS Medical School. "This new kit enables quick evaluation of T-cell immune responses in COVID-19 convalescent patients as well as vaccinated people," adds Isabella Della Noce, Chief Biologist at Hyris. "This is a new dimension for vaccine strategies as we face the threat of new virus variants."

Led by Professor Antonio Bertoletti from the Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases at Duke-NUS, the research team discovered a simple and rapid method to measure the T-cell immune response to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The study, titled "Rapid measurement of SARS-CoV-2 spike T cells in whole blood from vaccinated and naturally infected individuals", was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.

Not requiring specialised or expensive equipment, this discovery allows a rapid and large-scale expansion of studies to track T-cell activity across the world while helping to define the correlates of protection from T Cells and antibodies for the development of COVID-19 vaccines. Such a test is a prime example of how scientific innovation is key to the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee have chosen the HYRIS SYSTEM™ to effectively test many Canadian National Sport Teams against Covid-19.
The HYRIS bCUBE®'s portability truly makes the Hyris System® an asset, especially in a country as geographically vast as Canada. The outcomes of adopting the Hyris System® have been stretching way further than the world of curling, embracing some of the most important sectors of the Canadian sporting world. In the previous months, more units of the Hyris System® has been used to test:
• junior men's hockey team, in November 2020;
• the national women's and para hockey teams, in January 2021;
• the Canadian bobsled team availed themselves of the "lab in a box" in Ottawa before departing for Europe in December 2020;
• a unit has escorted the women's softball team headed to Florida in the months of 2021;
• national wheelchair rugby and basketball camps in Kingston, Ont, have been tested with the Hyris System since the end of 2020.
Of the 17 HYRIS bCUBE®s together with all the required Hyris bKIT®s, bought by the Committee so far, eight has been deployed at the Canadian Sport Institute in Calgary to test athletes and team members on the opening day of the Tim Hortons Brier, to get the men on the ice that very night for their curling competition.
Before adopting the HYRIS SYSTEM™, molecular tests by the NHL's lab for its playoff bubble and by Hockey Canada for the world junior men's championship in Edmonton could take about 24 hours to process. The curlers underwent that type of test 72 hours before departing for Calgary and upon arrival; after a 24-hour quarantine in their individual hotel rooms awaiting results, they were let out only to get on the ice and train before returning to their rooms.
The whole procedure, as well as a complicated undertaking, is also a very expensive business, with fares rating up to $10,000 per day before the match. Beside this, even greater concerns are always for the athletes, as these quarantines are very tiring and unnerving to them, to the point that this could harm their performance on the field.
CSI Calgary staff have been trained to analyze the results in-house, thanks to the portability of the HYRIS bCUBE®. Using a Point of Care diagnostic solution such as the Hyris System®, the teams have been able to get results within three hours, on average. With such an improvement, it comes to no surprise that this new approach to diagnostic monitoring significantly reduced the amount of time Brier participants spent alone in their hotel rooms, awaiting a test result to start curling.

Prof. Leonardo Miscio and his colleagues at Istituto Nazionale Tumori IRCCS "Fondazione G. Pascale", Naples, Italy, evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of our CE-IVD marked point-of-care rapid test "bKIT Virus Finder COVID-19", both by a retrospective and a prospective analysis.

As the results obtained are entirely comparable to the standard laboratory-based real-time PCR methods for all the analyzed samples, with a much faster result and no need for an equipped facility, Hyris System confirms to have what it takes to be a key asset in the global fight against the last Coronavirus.
