Join the underwater technology community in London for an evening focused on the challenges and technologies involved in dealing with underwater UXO (unexploded ordnance).

This session brings together industry, operational, and insurance perspectives to explore how UXO risks are managed in complex subsea environments, and how emerging best practice is shaping safer, more consistent approaches across the sector.

Weโ€™ll hear from two expert speakers: Richard Battrick (N-Sea Group UK / UXOcontrol Office), sharing operational and technical insights from subsea UXO work and standards development, and Keith Broughton (Beazley), offering an underwriterโ€™s perspective on commercial maritime EOD operations.

๐Ÿ“ข Save the Date: Gadgets & Widgets 2026

SUT Aberdeen's popular Gadgets & Widgets event returns on 9 September 2026, bringing together the subsea community for an evening of technology showcases, technical presentations and networking.

Each year, Gadgets & Widgets provides a platform for organisations to share innovative technologies, emerging capabilities and practical solutions that are helping to shape the future of the subsea industry. From new tools and equipment to novel approaches and lessons learned, the event offers a unique opportunity to discover what's new across the sector.

The evening will feature a series of short technical presentations, exhibition displays and demonstrations, followed by a buffet and networking session where attendees can continue the conversation with industry peers.

We're also now inviting organisations interested in presenting to submit an expression of interest. Selected presenters will receive a 10-minute presentation slot and exhibition space to showcase their technology and expertise.

๐Ÿ“ฉ Submit your interest by 17 July 2026: [email protected]

Registration for attendees opens soon, with the full programme to be announced in July.

You can't protect what you don't understand.

This World Ocean Day, we're reflecting on the role that science, technology, and collaboration play in protecting our blue planet.

As global efforts accelerate to establish stronger Marine Protected Areas and achieve the 30x30 ambition, the need for high-quality data, ocean observation, and environmental understanding has never been greater.

Every seabed survey, environmental assessment, monitoring programme, and technological breakthrough helps build a clearer picture of our ocean and supports better decisions for its future.

At SUT, we're proud to connect the global community of scientists, engineers, technologists, and innovators, making that work possible.

Because stronger ocean protection starts with stronger understanding.

โณ 3 weeks to go until the OSIG2027 abstract submission deadline.

The 10th International SUT OSIG Conference will bring together experts from across offshore site investigation, geotechnics, geophysics and geoscience to share knowledge, discuss emerging challenges and showcase innovation shaping the future of offshore energy.

Whether you're working on applied research, technical developments, lessons learned from projects, or innovative approaches to site investigation and characterisation, we encourage you to submit an abstract.

OSIG has a long-standing reputation for bringing together industry and academia, creating valuable opportunities to share expertise, build connections and contribute to advancing our sector.

The signals are clear. What comes next is up to us.

This , the global conversation turns to climate action and the signals our planet is sending. As host of World Environment Day 2026, Azerbaijan is highlighting the Caspian Sea, a region where the impacts of climate change and the opportunities of the energy transition are increasingly visible.

Declining water levels, changing ecosystems, and evolving coastal conditions are powerful reminders of the need for robust environmental monitoring and a deeper understanding of marine systems.

At the same time, the region is advancing renewable energy development, demonstrating how science, engineering, and innovation can help accelerate climate solutions.

Across the SUT's global community, members are contributing to the technologies, data, and expertise that support informed decision-makingโ€”from ocean observation and environmental monitoring to offshore energy and sustainable marine development.

Understanding the signals is the first step. Working together to respond is what comes next.

How well do you understand the risks posed by shallow gas?

Join SUT - US Society for Underwater Technology in the U.S. and International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) for Shallow Gas: Technical Deep Dive โ€“ an in-depth webinar exploring one of the most significant geohazards facing offshore drilling operations.

Despite advances in hazard identification, risk assessment and operational response, shallow gas incidents continue to pose serious challenges to safety and well integrity. This session will examine lessons learned from past industry events, approaches to risk characterisation and communication, and strategies for mitigation and response.

Hear from industry experts Andrew (Andy) Hill (bp & SUT-US Chair) and Chris Scarborough (Well Command Assurance) as they share insights into the technical and operational considerations surrounding shallow gas.

This event is designed for drillers, geoscientists and offshore professionals looking to deepen their understanding of shallow gas hazards and strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration.
