The only way to go: Australia

This has been EEW’s strategy for entering the Australian market since 2015, and it’s proven to be a successful move—with over 1 GW of solar developed to date.

We continue to hold a large portfolio of projects across Australia and remain bullish on the future of renewables and the energy storage market there.

Honored to Speak at AIM Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪

EEW Renewables Ltd was proud to be a supporting partner of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Congress - a premier global investment platform held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

This year’s AIM Congress welcomed over 25,000 participants from 180 countries under the theme: "Mapping the Future of Global Investment: The New Wave of a Globalized Investment Landscape Towards a New Balanced World Structure."

I had the privilege of speaking on the panel: “FDI and the Global Energy Transition: What’s Next?” together with Meng Liu, Head of the UN Global Compact China Office, and Christina Deligianni of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO).

In my remarks, I emphasized:
💡 FDI is essential to scaling the global energy transition - yet deployment is too slow due to regulatory red tape, grid bottlenecks, and a lack of early-stage capital. We need more soft finance and emissions-based incentives to enable next-gen energy like e-fuels (green hydrogen, ammonia, e-methanol).
💡 Permitting timelines have stretched from 1.5 to 4+ years, while critical infrastructure like grid access remains a major barrier.
💡 Regions like China and MENA are taking the lead, executing projects at unprecedented speed while Europe and other OECD countries risk falling behind.
💡 Ambitious targets exist, but we need realism and reform - not slogans. Ex*****on must be driven at the level of industry, municipalities, and regions, with strong alignment across policy, planning, and partnerships.

If we get this right, we unlock enormous value not only for investors but for energy security, economic resilience, and a sustainable future.

A heartfelt thanks to the UAE Ministry of Economy for the invitation and to Dawood Al Shezawi and the AIM Global Foundation for hosting such an impactful event. And special thanks to Rahul Basuroy and team for the great collaboration!

Grid Investment Needs to Double, Reaching Up to $600 Billion
Our journey to a sustainable energy future is fundamentally dependent on the modernization of power grids. Despite a surge in renewable energy investments, the progress is hampered by outdated infrastructure, acting as a major bottleneck.
In 2024, renewable energy investments are projected to reach $644 billion, with over 3,000 GW of renewable projects waiting for grid connections. However, global investment in grid infrastructure has plateaued at $300 billion annually. To meet the critical target of limiting global warming to 1.8°C, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has estimated that investments in the grid need to double, reaching $600 billion annually by 2030. This substantial increase underlines that the amount we need to invest in upgrading and expanding the grid infrastructure is on par with what is being allocated for renewable energy capacity. Without parallel investments in both areas, the shift to renewable energy could face significant delays, undermining global efforts to combat climate change.
EEW and other renewable energy companies are experiencing significant delays in grid connections, which complicates the delivery of renewable energy projects that are crucial for the energy transition. We believe that raising public awareness about the critical importance of grid investments is essential to prompt action from both government and private industry. Upgrading our power grids is not merely an option but a necessity to facilitate the transition to renewable energy and ensure a cleaner, more sustainable future

Massive Growth in Global Battery Storage Boosts Renewable Energy Shift
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are at the forefront of the renewable energy transition, essential for grid stabilization and climate action. Europe's ambitious plan to quintuple its BESS capacity from 10GW today to 57GW by 2030 reflects a commitment to renewable integration. Similarly, Australia targets a boost from 2.2 GW to 19 GW to meet emission reductions, emphasizing the role of both pumped hydro and large-scale battery storage.
EEW, actively involved in European and Australian markets, champions this growth, contributing significantly to BESS development. This expansion not only supports the global shift towards renewable energy but also underlines the importance of BESS in achieving a sustainable, carbon-neutral future. By storing excess energy for use during low production periods, BESS facilitates a decrease in fossil fuel dependency.
EEW's commitment to BESS underpins the broader move towards sustainability, underscoring the technology's transformative potential in the energy sector. With continued investment and innovation, BESS is poised to play a pivotal role in the global energy landscape, ensuring a stable, efficient, and green future.

Global Carbon Pricing: The answer to Global Net Zero

Carbon emissions are everyone's concern. They don't respect borders or boundaries. If one nation curbs its carbon, yet its neighbour doesn't, we all suffer. The only true solution is one that rewards reducers and penalizes emitters on a global scale. Currently, carbon pricing only tackles 25% of global emissions. This isn't enough. We need a unified approach where emitting carbon hits the wallet, and reducing it benefits it. Imagine the possibilities with global carbon pricing: not only making emissions costly but also funding the urgent shift to green technologies. It’s a self-sustaining mechanism that turns carbon liabilities into green assets. For a net-zero future, given the USD 1.7 trillion annual challenge highlighted by IRENA, broadening carbon pricing isn't just smart—it's a global duty. The planet's health demands a collaborative effort where emitters pay their due, and reducers reap the rewards. 🌏🌱
