Really enjoyed having this pump in for overhaul.

Originally purchased in 1982, this project involved the complete overhaul of a David Brown JVCR Vertical 2-Stage pump used for pumping Butane.

The unit was fully stripped, cleaned, inspected, rebuilt, and pressure tested back to original equipment specification — ensuring reliable performance and continued operational integrity for our customer.

🔧 Scope of work completed:
✔️ Full strip-down and clean
✔️ New bearings fitted
✔️ Mechanical seal overhauled
✔️ New Graphalloy bushes fitted to the lower end
✔️ Replacement lower shaft manufactured and installed
✔️ Full pressure testing of both casing and seal completed
✔️ 10-yearly PSSR inspection carried out on the pump casing, including extensive Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
✔️ Pump casing and components fully repainted prior to final assembly — with fuchsia pink being a particular favourite of our client 😉

Another high-quality overhaul completed by the team at Luma Engineering.

If you require pump repairs, overhauls, inspections, or maintenance support, get in touch with us — we’re here to help with all your pump service needs.

Another busy week at Luma Engineering.
This Flowserve LNN axially split pump has been in for major repair works. The impeller locknut had worked loose and enabled the impeller to fret on the shaft. High vibration had been picked up by the onsite condition monitoring systems and Luma were called to replace the pump with an onsite spare, inclusive of laser alignment and contract lift, and carry out a full birthday on the removed.
The overhaul has consisted of machining the impeller bore oversize, to remove the fretting, manufatcuring a new shaft, oversized at the impeller location. Upgrading the bearing design to angular contact bearings at the NDE to standardise the unit with others onsite. Upgrading the impeller locknut design to the latest Flowserve specification to prevent similar issues arising with them coming loose during operation. Both mechanical seals have been fully overhauled with new FFKM elastomers to ensure compatabilty with the product and additivies being used onsite. Inpro seals have also been fitted with new O-Rings. Pump has been pressure tested, on oil, and given a new coat of paint for good measure. Pump will now be prepped for long term storage and delivered to clients site.
As the official distributor for Flowserve in the South of the UK Luma Engineering can ensure a fully supported repair has been provided in accordance with the original build standards.
Whatever your pump requirements are, large or small, feel free to give us call.

Multistaged side channel pump in for repair this week.
This SIHI unit, now part of the Flowserve group, had generated a seal leak onsite so was isolated awaiting our engineers to assist.
Full scope of works on this one was a contract lift to remove the unit from site back to our workshop. Pump was then stripped to component part and inspected to generate the full repair scope. Although the seal had began to leak the pump internals were generally not in too bad condition. All carbon running bushes, bearings and gaskets were replaced as standard. Our engineer noted that the 1st stage wear ring clearances were excessive so the housings were machined to enable installation of component wear rings to bring the equipment back to original manufacturers tolerances. Casing were all shot blasted prior to rebuild. Pressure test carried out in house and pump painted prior to delivery onsite. Another contract lift was carried out to enable the insatllation and then a final laser alignment. All in a day, well weeks, work.
Great effort by the team.
