In 2025, scientists uncovered astonishing insights about our planet.
From rare ancient rocks that could rewrite Earth’s early history, to extreme shifts deep beneath the oceans and in Earth’s magnetic field. Researchers also found entirely new deep-sea ecosystems thriving without sunlight, revealing just how much we still don’t know about the world beneath our feet.

Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are shaping humanity’s future in space with very different visions—Mars colonies vs. giant orbital habitats.
Musk’s SpaceX aims to build a self‑sustaining human settlement on Mars, using Starship rockets to carry people and supplies to the Red Planet.
Bezos, through Blue Origin, prefers building massive rotating space stations (O’Neill colonies) that could house millions in Earth‑like artificial gravity.
Despite their differences, both visions highlight a bold new era where private companies play a central role in expanding human life beyond Earth.

Scientists discovered fossilized bee nests inside the tooth cavities and vertebrae of prehistoric animal bones in a Caribbean cave a behavior never seen before.
The finds, in a cave on the island of Hispaniola, show burrowing bees used empty bone cavities as nesting sites when soil was scarce.
The fossilized nests, classified as Osnidum almontei, help reveal how ancient bees adapted their behavior to survive.
This unusual discovery gives scientists new clues about insect ecology and deepens our understanding of ancient ecosystems.

In General Theory of Relativity, Albert Einstein famously realized that gravity isn't a "pulling force" like a magnet. Instead, it is the result of the fabric of spacetime itself being wraped and curved. But this leads to a mind-blowing question: What exactly is doing the bending?

Scientists diving off Guam have uncovered strange, never-seen-before deep-sea creatures during a series of deep ocean explorations. Researchers identified around 100 species new to the region and possibly 20 species entirely unknown to science.
But amid the wonder, human trash and plastic waste were found even in these remote depths, showing pollution reaches everywhere.
Temperature data also suggest that deep waters are warming too, pointing to climate change affecting even the ocean’s twilight zone.

Scientists have captured rare evidence of orcas (killer whales) and dolphins hunting together for salmon off the coast of British Columbia.
Footage shows the dolphins acting as “scouts” using echolocation, while orcas follow to locate and catch big Chinook salmon.
Once the orcas catch the fish and break them apart, dolphins often feed on the scraps suggesting possible cooperation or mutual benefit.
This surprising teamwork challenges what scientists thought about these powerful marine mammals’ hunting behavior.

Scientists captured new X-ray images of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS as it makes its closest approach to Earth.
Japan’s XRISM telescope observed X-rays spreading far from the comet’s core, hinting at interactions with solar wind.
The European XMM-Newton observatory also spotted the comet glowing in X-ray light, helping reveal its composition.
Astronomers hope these multi-wavelength observations unlock clues about what this rare interstellar visitor is made of.
